I wonder how they changed the compound to not fall apart now without changing the chassis, I thought the chassis was the issue. I'm glad they could fix the issue this way and agree with Ian that there was no need to fundamentally change the tire unless no other options were available.
I *do* feel sorry for 'em; They've pretty much delivered what Bernie admits he asked 'em for; Tires that mandate 2-3 stops for most teams. Just a single stop if you're "gentle" on 'em. [See Scottalian running 57 laps on one set in Montreal.] OK, they've had a few delams, which look ugly on the TV, but no accidents as a result and as they note, at least the guys can get back to the pits. What are they meant to do? Cheers, Ian
Bernie asks them to bend over and they're surprised at what ensues? Although there haven't been any catastrophes from the delams yet doesn't mean they aren't concerned. No matter what they and their lawyers say.
Interesting little video of the updates Ferrari had in Canada; Formula 1® - The Official F1® Website The image below shows the new "cutaway" exposing the caliper (Brembo's gotta love it too!) - Idea apparently is to put brake heat into the wheels & thence the tires...... So, it seems they're struggling to get them up to temperature, not overheating the suckers...... Cheers, Ian Image Unavailable, Please Login
My guess is if we don't see anymore delams at Silverstone, Germany or Hungary the whole discussion will die. Cheers, Ian Pirelli calls off introducing new F1 tyres before Belgian GP - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com
+1 However, I still find it a little "disconcerting" when the 'puter model looks better than the real thing!..... Indeed. Sorry; I should have said "moot". My bad. Cheers, Ian
+1 OTOH, there's a rat-hole for another thread..... Could argue that one all different ways. Biologicals that look that good!.... Whew! Cheers, Ian
