    Gents,

Apparently the new Trofeo R tyres from Pirelli is terrific if you're serious in tracking your 458.

Very, very sticky, they come in 235/35 20in Fronts and 295/35 20in Rears.

Feedback from a recent track day in the dry....incredible grip, encourages you to push and push.

Forget them if you drive in wet.

I tried them when they firsts came out on my gt3rs. It was a warm day in France sure, but lasting about 3 hours before they were illegal was atrocious. I would personally stick to the cup 2 tyres that have been developed for the special.

I have Trofeo R tires on my 458 italia. I was at the track last Sunday to test the tires.
You need to have increased camber for Trofeo's. I lowered my car 20 mm in front and 10 mm at the back. Now I have -2.2 camber in front and -2.7 camber at the back.

I did 2:15.1 @İstanbul Park, ex-F1 circuit. The track was semi wet and the tempature was around 12 C. It is a respectable time when you consider that the circuit's street car record is 2:13.8, dry track and 24 C, lapped by a Lamborghini LP 570-4 SL. Here is my video:

I think Trofeo R's are great tires and I'm sure I'll improve my time at least 3 sec on dry track.

Has anyone in the US used these tires? On Tirerack.com, they are not showing our 458 Italia sizes........

How will you run Cup 2 tires for the Speciale on an Italia or Spider when they don't come in the right size? Did you have your Trofeo Rs put through a proper heat cycle prior to racing them?

From what I gather, the Cup 2, like the previous Cup N spec is a street tire that works well on the track, while the Trofeo R is a track tire, that according to Pirelli, is not meant for normal street driving. It would be interesting to see some differences in lap times between a Speciale with Cup 2 and Trofeo R tires, since both come in Speciale size.

For those of you running the Trofeos, did you go with 235s or 245s up front? I'd like a wider tire....but not if the slight difference in circumference affects the stability control, etc....

I think I would stick with the OE size as the height of a tire is a function of the width and the aspect ratio so the circumference would be a little bit more and could confuse the traction control.

These tires will definitely hydroplane sooner than a normal street tire, even an aggressive summer tire like PZero or MPSS. If you are only driving the car on nice days/ have the discipline to keep your speed way down if you get caught in a rain storm, then its OK. Personally, I find the MPSS offer such good performance for a street tire I don't feel I need the extra these give.
