I have a Novitec valved exhaust with Image Unavailable, Please Login straight down pipes and a Forza controller on my 2018 488. The first thing I noticed is the throttle response is greatly improved and the sound is amazingly. Cold startups are very loud.

When cruising with the wife and the valves are closed it sounds very similar to stock but deeper. No drone at any speed. I can’t imagine a better all around System that delivers everything you need.

I can tell you that every video I have watched even my own do not translate how good it sounds.

That’s good to hear. Is the pitch higher than stock in the upper rev range as well? I think it’s supposed to be more dynamic throughout.

Sound is subjective that’s why there is so many choices when it comes to audio (I am an audio guy) but if you say the 488 sounds bad stock I agree 100%.

With my setup the sound puts a smile on my face at startup and through the revs. The sound with the pedal down, and valves open is awesome.

Does it sound like a 458 no, but I prefer the advantages of my 488 (previously owned 458). If you own a 488 and you want the best overall sound Novitec won’t disappoint. It is a different sound than the 458 but to me just as visceral, loud, and rewarding.

Even my stock 2020 812 stock sounds underwhelming. It will get the same treatment after my first service.

Btw, Sean and Alex at TAG Motorsports are the best if you are looking for Novitec stuff.

I am in the music business, so sound is nearly everything to me! Lol

I agree with you on the 812. Even just the x pipe and valved exhaust from Novitec that TAG had on the N Largo sounds incredible. I’m not looking for decat pipes, but may do high flow cats eventually for the Pista. Also, the video above is stainless, and I think Inconel will raise the pitch a touch.

Here’s our old 458 next to the new Pista (both in for service at the same time coincidentally)

I’m in the music industry as well... hence my name here....I’d love to do something with my exhaust. So far all I have done is cap the valves so they stay open and that was a nice improvement but I want more. A little louder but I hear some sound...harmonics in the engine note I’d like to bring out. I hear this on another 488 a year or so ago leaving the 12hrs of Sebring race.

Laguneau92 love the Pista...dream car of mine!

Just curious if either of you have been tempted to upgrade the speakers in the car and add an amp, EQ/DSP, etc?

Nope....hardly ever listen to the stereo. Even if I did a high end stereo I believe it’s a waste since the road noise and engine noise is too much to truly enjoy music like I like to.

Agree, I can barely talk on the phone in the Pista. I considered a speaker delete as well. I don’t tend to listen to music in the car, especially since the Ferrari isn’t the daily driver, and my time in it is purely for the sport of driving.

This is true. But it's nice to have a good stereo in a car like this for those moments when the bitumen isn't course and the noise intrusion is at its least. You could be on a silky smooth run of freeway on way to that favorite section of road and there is nothing better than having everything working for you in the stereo dept. And then you arrive and the stereo becomes of insignificance for an hour or two...or three. In a car like a Ferrari life is made up full of moments, desirably each delivering the very best achievable outcome along the course of the journey. I count the stereo as an important element. The engine and exhaust sound is essential...goes without saying really,

Ferrari mid engined cars are pretty loud. A good stereo is useless. On the bigger GT cars I agree a nice stereo is necessary.

It depends upon what you call necessary. I call a good exhaust sound and a good stereo both necessary. The less the insulation the better the stereo needs to be. I would say in a good gt car a good stereo is less important due to the superior sound deadening. But even in a GT car I would not compromise the sound if better options were available. Stereos become somewhat useless when the car is being properly driven because they are overtaken by the sound of the engine. But that is not all the time. Therein lays the problem which is why the box gets ticked. Slower driving needs not to be a chore.

The noise floor is so high in these cars...not just Ferrari but every other sports car out there with big wide tires that spending boat loads of money on a killer after market system to me is a total waste of money and time.

Plus to me these cars need to be as light as possible and I do not want to add weight with amps, subwoofers and so forth to a sports car.

In my Porshes I never hardly listened to music. In my 488 I have had the stereo on once and that was on the 5hr drive home from the dealer and it wasn't on the whole drive. In my daily driver....a Jeep Grand Cherokee and in my wives Panamera GTS I will listen to music on long drives. My last Jeep GC I did a mid level stereo...about $4k to improve the sound. It was a lot better, more accurate but there is still a noise floor. My current Jeep GC I will not be upgrading the Jeeps top of the line sound system....I did not think it was money well spent. My home system...or systems are different.

Thats my take on car audio...

Boden auto Haus has one. Shmee drove it and I guess it’s crazy loud. For me, I don’t really need MORE sound per se, but am looking for a different resonance. I wish the Novitec X pipe had valves, then it’d be a no brainer for me. Do I give up the sound of the x pipe for the valved system? I know some will argue that the Kline has a valved X pipe version, but I still don’t have anything to compare it with since the only real video is from the manufacturer. And some of that audio is obviously spliced in.
