Hi, I was hoping to get a little advice. I currently have a 488 and now looking at getting a Pista. I found one that has a fantastic spec in a color scheme that I really like. It's at an f dealer and so will come with the typical 2y power warranty.

My main concern is that the car has some unexpected wear. The dealer is replacing the windshield because it's horribly pitted/chipped (never seen a windshield that bad on a car with only 8k miles) and the PPF had to be removed as it was in really rough shape. Underneath, the paint generally looks pretty good so the PPF did its job. Computed disc wear is 32% in the front (and a bit less in the rear). The dealer confirmed that the car was tracked and pads were recently replaced (not sure how many times but current ones are pretty new).

Should I have any concerns or look out for other wear items? I'd generally prefer a car that wasn't tracked (but maybe that's silly for a Pista since that's what they were built for).... but this particular car is otherwise exactly what I'm looking for. Finally, what sort of discount would you expect compared to an essentially brand new one (less than 1k miles)?

    Any advice is much appreciated!

  2. Need more info

Specs? Year? Miles? Asking price v. MSRP?

For the right price, this would be a good buy.

Pista prices here currently range from £270k - £330k... on the higher end is a f dealer Rosa corsa... decent spec (perhaps a little common) and only 231 miles!

I can tell you that the windshields used in the 488/Pista/F8 are shockingly soft glass, and it doesn't take much to get them pitted. And of course if the car was run at high speed, basic physics works against it staying pristine.

i think the decision here is completely dependent on what you intend to do with the car. If it's a driver and your goal might be to track occasionally as well, it's perfect. If it's intended to be used infrequently and value at sale matters more, then I'd move onto something else. Not a bad car, but resale would be more challenging I think

Yes, makes sense... I definitely plan to drive it and would be keen to try a few track days. I guess I was more concerned about parts longevity/reliability if it's been driven very hard.... not sure if that's something I should be concerned about or not. For example, I've read that the discs should be nice and smooth and was told that on this car they're a little rough.

I'd been very concerned about the real life of the ccm rotors. Easy to replace but stupid expensive.

See if the dealer will replace the rotors as part of the deal. It won't cost them nearly as much as it will cost you to replace them.

    I can certainly say tha
Thanks... I think that's exactly what I'll ask for. Any idea what this would cost the dealer? Roughly half the retail?

Bought my Pista from Meridien a few weeks ago (or rather, via Meridien, but sold through my local dealer) - they often have very nice specs coming in and out.

32% wear on the actual rotors themselves are quite high but then again, that car has done 8k miles and if they've been driven well (as they should be!), I don't think the wear is obscene for what it is. If you're gonna track the car, etc, try pushing for sub-300, there's enough meat there for them to take that. That £9k+ saved should buy you some piece of mind, put it towards new rotors when you will need them. Blue Electrico is a rare color on Pistas so they may be a bit more unwilling to budge, but then again they moved a bit on my car and it was in an as-rare color combination.

Imho, if you're going to drive it as you say, there's no reason to go for a low mile minter. Buy something like this and use the condition to bargain. Then go out and drive the tits off it.

I’ve had my pista for 2 years now and I’ve gone through 2 windscreens, they are extremely thin. I haven’t tracked it yet but i drive it every weekend in all weathers and euro trip last year. Car had had 1k miles when i bought it and now has 11k. I have stone chips in all the normal places but the PPF has done its job and the paint work underneath is fine. In my experience the car has been bullet proof but if you use it properly you cannot get away from road rash. Also i never bought mine from Meridien but i do know they have one of the best reputations in UK. I would say go for it, i am 2 years in and i still look forward to the weekend when i can take the car out.

Thanks… good to know (I guess!) that the windscreen isn’t a big deal. I purchased my 488 from Meridien and agree they’re top notch folks.
