Thinking of getting a Pista stripe for my Grigio Silverstone F8 with yellow stitched interior.
Thinking of a thick yellow stripe and black but worried about bugs.
I could do thin yellow and thick black.
Car needs new ppf in any case.

Why are you worried about "bugs"?

You must not have owned a yellow car in the past. They attract bugs. Its something not often mentioned, but its absolutely true with flying insects that go after flowers. While its not a HUGE deal, it does indeed always have more bugs than other colors. I don't think a small strip will be an issue at all.

Not trying to make it look like a pista at all, I definately want it to look like an F8 which for me the difference is obvious. I just like the stripe on the pista hence calling it a pista stripe. Not keen on the 488 myself otherwise I would have bought one. Though I know people rave about it, it's not for me. Doesn't help your car being a different colour to mine with single black stripe. I believe Ferrari did different stripes for the F8 from factory, I have seen it done a few different ways with subtle changes. I got the idea from someone I know who has one. I think it will bring out the colour of my car. Mine is a tributo so would like to see how it looks on the roof. Not keen on the plain black which then does not come through the lower part of the bumper, which even though is only a small part I think is important so it looks like its coming through the s-duct to the front of the car.

I have seen a few different designs from factory. I like the one on the pista rather than the single colour stripe on yours. Similar to the pic below. Maybe grigio silverstone in the middle and yellow either side or black in the middle and yellow either side or vise versa to reduce the size of the yellow stripe if it avoids bugs more! I also like the thinner lines on the outer edge like the second pic below which is 7 lines of colour. Just personal preference from what I have seen.
I just want to avoid bugs on yellow.

I suppose I could just get a cheap wrap stripe from ebay, stick it on the car myself for a few weeks just to see if bugs are attracted to it. Say just on the roof and bonnet. It wont look so great but will only be temporary.

I don’t think a yellow stripe would attract enough bugs to cause a problem!
Just do what you like the look of. Any number of photoshop-/AI enthusiasts could help you preview the look, I definitely wouldn’t recommend a DIY job unless you have experience.

I've had 2 yellow cars. Yes, they definitely attract more flying bugs, but not enough for me to consider it a problem (but obviously everyone is different, and it may bother you). So, if I had to guess, a stripe shouldn't really be enough of an issue to worry about, even for people sensitive to it.
But then again, it may matter where you live, how many bugs, and the type of bugs, so who knows!

Thanks for the input David. The ppf on the vehicle needs to be replaced, I am just in the process of booking it in but there is quite a wait which gives me good time to get some video using suction cup mounts. I've used the tiny rear qtr panel windows but they are very small and awkward to position a triple suction cup mount. Looks like i'll get better shots putting them on the ppf which may cause issues with the ppf which I would like to experience also.
I can also get some cheap yellow vinyl wrap, experience the bugs and use the time to find the best colour I can if the yellow does attract bugs. I will only put it on the roof and bonnet as a test.
Then it can all be removed, ready for the new ppf and I can make my decision whether to do it or not and which colours to use for the stripes.

you asked the question. Personally I think most that see a pista stripe on an F8 will think someone tried to turn their F8 into a pista. Just get a pista if you like that esthetic better. Engine note is significantly better and the drive is significantly stepped up. No GPF. Or do something different than the pista stripe.
