I have just recently started to collect pistons and connecting rods. I figured lots of people collect lots of car things and this just seemed right for me. I have started with a 5hp Briggs and Stratten, an 82 Volvo 240 and a Mack truck. The Volvo is a car that I am parting out and it was the first time I took a motor completly apart. I thought it was interesting the huge differences between the same things. Is there anybody else out there that does this and would anyone like to contribute anything to the collection? I am open to any year make or model. Motorcycle, car, boat, truck, tractor or whatever.

The two I have in my collection are from a small block chevy that dropped a valve, and a 360 Modena that broke a belt at 8K RPM.

Hi Dave, at least now I know I'm not a total nut job for wanting to collect these kinds of things. I just figure, you can look at a piston and rod and know immediately that there is an interest in motorsports at some level. I am hoping to fall into things like your 360 piston, damaged but still cool.

Roy, would you be willing to part with one of yours?

Yep. It does help that I'm an Auto Tech. ;) I used to have a piston/rod from an old Quad 4 that sucked up water and put a nice "U" bend in the con-rod when it hydro-locked at 5K rpm. Don't know whatever happened to it though. :(

Thanks tbak that would be fantastic. I just had one of the guys who works for me ask for time off to work on a Pit Crew at the 24hrs of Daytona. On a Prototype at that. He is going to try like hell to get me a piston and rod from that car. This is coming together pretty well. Drop me an email at [email protected] if you find anything. Thanks a million.
