I don't gets what could have gone so wrong?

"The dogs belong to his girlfriend’s son. WLS-TV has more on this tragic story:

“I can’t see my baby. My baby’s ate up. I can’t see him. Okay, I’ve got to have a closed casket,” said Salithia Maybell, mother.

“They were vicious dogs. They lived right up there. They killed a dog right there,” Maybell continued. “They’ve attacked before.”

Hagerman’s relatives say he was scared of the pit bulls, one of them an adult, the other a puppy, which, according to Hagerman’s relatives, were kept in a cage.

“He said he don’t mess with the big dog because he’s too vicious. He bite people that he ain’t know,” said Zarquil Boston, niece.

Hagerman’s relatives say he had a history of seizures and that he may have suffered one, alarming one of the dogs.

“First reaction of a dog is to jump on defense, and that’s what happened. But nevertheless, they mauled him to death,” said Leonard Thompson, neighbor.

“I want to see them put to sleep,” said Maybell.

Unfortunately for Maybell, her son’s death marked the second time she has been to the morgue this week. Several days ago, one of her grandson’s died in a gun-related incident."

If the dog attacked people before, then it was bound to happen again. Owner should have put down the dog long ago.

Shame that a breed of dog gets a bad rep due to owners teaching them to fight and be aggressive.

We (had) a Pitbull. We did not have time to take care of it. Yes it was lethal. This was due to the ability to lick you to death.

All hail Baby! Heroic pit bull saves family, 5 dogs from fire

    2/15/2013

Pit bulls have a bad name, but not because of dogs like Baby. The pit bull terrier is being called a hero after saving her owners from a fire that ravaged their Wellston, Okla., home. Rhonda Westenberger and her sister, Evelyn, were asleep when Baby rushed to their sides, barking and pouncing on Evelyn until she woke up — in the nick of time. "If Baby hadn't woken Evelyn up, I don't think either one of us would have come out of it," Westenberger said. But Baby wasn't done. She returned to save the family's five other dogs, dragging out one that was hiding underneath a bed. "She is my hero," Westenberger said. "She's the hero for all of us."

Woman's pit bull finds lost elderly woman in New Jersey

On Thursday night, a pit bull named "Creature," heard something in the woods behind her Piscataway, N.J., home.

According to NJ.com, that something was an elderly woman who was the subject of an intense search effort by local officials.

For hours, authorities and rescuers had been searching the area for 89-year-old Carmen Mitchell, who had disappeared from her home earlier in the day.

Thanks to Creature's keen ears and desire to alert her owner to the person in the woods, the barefoot, mud-covered woman was discovered, lying on the ground not far from Cara Jones' home.

After Mitchell's discovery, rescuers flocked to the scene and whisked the woman to a hospital.

A cruel person set a dog on fire. I hope the police catch the person who did it and they get prison time.

Pregnant Pit Bull Set Aflame Gets Treatment in Monee

The call to "It's a Pittie" pit bull rescue in Monee, Illinois came in on Tuesday.

A pregnant pit bull had been set afire and hit by a car somewhere in the south suburbs. An animal shelter had taken her in as a stray, but she needed medical treatment immediately. "It's a Pittie" had to wait 24 hours for the dog's release, however.

Jamie Skraban, who's worked at "It's a Pittie" for just over a year said it's one of the worst cases she's seen during her time there.

The dog, which they've begun referring to as Petunia, had burns over 25 percent of her body and possible internal damage from being hit by a car. She could give birth in a week, Skraban said, because her milk has come in.

Details of the attack that left Petunia burned and hobbled are not clear.

"We'll never know who did this," Skraban said. There were no identifying tags on the pit bull and the shelter, which Skraban did not want to name, took her in as a stray -- meaning, they don't know who owned her.

Petunia received her first hydro-therapy treatment on Thursday. She needs constant care so the burned skin on her body doesn't become infected. Rescue workers are worried that she won't have the strength to care for her pups.

Skraban said finding abused pit bulls is not uncommon. So far this year her rescue organization has received 45 calls about destitute dogs.

"It's a Pittie" doesn't have a brick and mortar location. The group pays the freight for dogs the rescue and help to find foster homes and volunteers for recovering dogs, and finally permanent placement.

Petunia is particularly expensive. It's a Pittie is currently paying for her treatment at an animal hospital in Monee. Soon they expect they'll have to pay to feed as many as 7 puppies too boot.

It just kills me inside that someone would do that to "Man's Best Friend" and I hope they reap the pain they inflicted 10X over. I take solace in believing that the "Pearly Gate" will be locked and their elevator only goes down.

I tended to 2 different pitbulls for friends over the course of a few years. Each one of them was as gentle as you could imagine around me all the time and never did I feel threatened or see a viscious side to them. However, when I wasnt around I heard a few stories that would make your hair stand up. It had to be their owners just werent good owners/careless. They exhibited different personalies/behavior when they werent around me that I thought wouldnt be possible from each of them.My immediate reaction to the things I heard was that it cant be true. Maybe Im good with animals and maybe their owners were careless. My theory with any animal is avoid the avoidable and it goes a long way to keeping them under control and in a good happy mood. I loved them both dearly so I will spare everyone my comments on abusing animals. I guess we could just ban dogs?

    Friday, May 10, 2013 PALMDALE, Calif. --

Southern California authorities have released the name of a jogger who was killed by pit bulls in a Mojave Desert community.
The Los Angeles County coroner's office identified her Friday as 63-year-old Pamela Marie Devitt, of Littlerock.

She died Thursday after being attacked by at least four dogs.

Sheriff's investigators later seized eight dogs from a nearby home, whose resident was arrested on suspicion of growing marijuana. Authorities say the owner was previously cited because one dog attacked a horse.

County animal control Director Marcia Mayeda says the six pit bulls and two mixed-breeds are being housed separately at a Lancaster shelter under rabies observation. She says they haven't acted aggressively.
