Anyone else find this a little extreme? http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/news/article.adp?id=20050720153809990010&_ccc=5&cid=842 Banning is one thing, but confiscating and destroying the animals? How about a little warning and some stiff fines if they aren't out of the city by a certain date. The worst part: Pretty specific criteria, huh? -Chris
I read something about people having to get rid of other breeds b/c they look like pit bulls. The staffordshire terrier looks like a pit bull but is an AKC breed. Are these the types of dogs pit bulls were made from?
that is stupid!...thats discrimination against appearance... ima tell MY pit bull to attack and sick'm! Image Unavailable, Please Login
He talks a good game, but the only thing Moose knows how to murder are old shoes and cans of Alpo. Kinda scary that the county could come in, take him away and kill him without reason. C. Image Unavailable, Please Login
All this Pitbull stuff is over the news every single day. While you cant argue one bit with putting the ones down that have killed little girls, dogs that "look like them" get put down?! Ok, would if I looked like a serial killer that was on the loose? Would I have to get the thrown in jail? Hell No. It very extreme indeed, two of my friends have pit bulls and both of them are just as nice as my dogs; a lot of their personality is from the owner...thats with any dog. They HAVE to revise that little law they have.
There are a lot of big working dogs that can be trained to be mean with enough abuse. What's next, rounding up abused kids and putting them straight into juvie before they commit a crime?
this is f-ing crap. i love the councilman giving his "expert opinion" - City Councilman Charlie Brown said that in his judgment, ''pit bulls are trained to attack. They're bred to do that.'' why don't we punish the OWNERS who are the ones that are doing the training, put them to death instead of the animals who are just doing what they are told. anyone find an email address or anything for this idiot councilman or whoever is responsible for this law?
WOW....this is as wrong and unjust as wrong and unjust can get! I'm not a pitbull owner, but I am a dog owner. As mentioned in an above post...with any long term abuse any dog can become overly agressive. The pitbull gets a bad rap. The owners of the VERY agressive pitbulls are the ones to blame, not the dog. Also, killing dogs that LOOK or RESEMBLE a Pit...are these people out of their minds? Many Bull terriers look like Pits. The Bull Terrier (Spuds McKenzie) has a oddly shapped head (traditionally) however, many do resemble a Pit. However, these dogs are, for the most part, very gentle, playfull, and genuinely friendly dogs. They'll put one down for LOOKING like a pit! I imagine this law will be put to rest. I can imagine the animal rights activists are creating a pretty big insurgence for this law. It will be intersting to see what comes of this. J
Someone needs to start a Canine Haulocaust media campaign. That or "Caninocide." If no one uses those, I'm going to keep them as band names.
I know several pit bulls that are the nicest dogs in the world. That said, I think owners/potential owners need to show a little responsibility and common sense. Some new people just moved into my townhouse development and there is a 90+lb pit bull with cut ears being walked by a girl who cannot weight more than 110lbs herself. She has been walking the dog in dark areas and night and has caught me by surprise on a few occasions. The dog gets very excited, to which she commented, "He likes to jump up on people...." Responsibility and common sense. Like I said I know and love several pit bulls, but IMHO the situation I just described is not acceptable. Do not walk your dog in a dark area of a crowded neighborhood when he is almost as big as you. If more owners thought things through there would be less hysteria and stigma surrounding these animals.
Man, why not just smear red paint all over the dog's jowls too? Or better yet, red-glowing chemluminescent compounds and have a little Hound of Baskervilles action.
Oklahoma is doing something similar. Also, make sure you pit bull doesn't mess with any porcupines. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's been on the net for a few days, doubt it's his dog. If it is, your dog is on 20-30+ other forums.
Those photos have been circulating over the net for a few days. Found a shot of Yainch though.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I guess it's the ole "guns don't kill people, people kill people" thing. I believe it comes down to how you've raised your dog.
HobbsTC, you da man. hope EVERYONE who feels as strongly about dogs as i do writes to this moron... i certainly will be. hell, you don't even have to like dogs to see the stupidity of this law.
OMG that poor dog. Was probably curious and trying to smell it. My lab is scared of everything. When there is a cat around she will spend about 10 minutes getting the nerve to walk near it then when she does the cat tries to scratch her eyes out.
Well i guess i'll never set foot in Denver then. It is the stupidest law i've ever heard. I have two staffies and I couldn't get either one of them to attack anything other than their dinner. They are both mushballs. A pit bull would have to be trained to hurt humans. They should throw the owners of these dogs that attack in jail not ban the dogs.Total Bullsh$t Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
