Sounds like the author had his girlfriend in high school taken away from him by a better looking guy who happened to be the captain of the football team...the author got beat off the line at every stoplight by that same guy...the author was teased at lunch and in the school halls everyday by that same guy...the author was not very popular while that "other guy" was Mr. popular...

By the way, that "other guy" drove a Ferrari. :D :D :D

Too bad a piece that makes some very good points devolved into an anti-Ferrari rant.

    Ferrari.

There is no better sports car on the road. In fact I always say, its the only sports car on the road, the rest are just imitators. The only form of motor sports that I still watch even to event, is F1. I watch highlights of NASCAR, the IRL, and when I can find it, any of the European touring car series. Certainly LeMans.

Yet I have to agree with the majority of this article. The series can not survive in the manner Ferrari wants, so it looks like time for Ferrari to either leave F1, or care more about F1 than they do about Ferrari.

I agree but, I also think it's a fairly valid rant. To say the fact that the championships won under their veto power are a bit tarnished in my eyes is an understatement. They've had the deck stacked in their favor as they've been able to say which cards shouldn't be played.

The game is not played only on the track it seems.
Once again Ferrari shows its superior tactics;)
Seriously do you think any other team wouldn't have availed itself of the same advantage, if offered?

Somehow I can't see sir Frank Williams taking the bribe. And let's not dress it up to be something its not. It was a bribe and Ferrari took it. As the article states, “As Bernie himself has said, Ferrari was bought. There are some unpleasant words to describe people who can be bought. There is also the matter that anyone who offers a bribe is likely to accept one otherwise bribery would not enter their head.” If you lie down with dogs you’ll get up with fleas.

I'd like to think Sir Frank wouldn't either. But maybe that's why They're a second tier team. As they say you don't bring a knife to a gun fight.

I can't believe that he equates the switch to F2 cars in the 50's to the current situation. Sure, a championship was recognized as such back then, but there was no commercialization in the 50's. Everyone trailered there cars to the race and the gate was what was made on the race tickets that were sold. With the global commercialization and the money that CVC must pay, what would the series be worth if Ferrari and the other teams left the series? I have followed F1 for over 50 years, but if Max gets his way and brings in a two tier system and the top teams leave, I am gone. I never watched an IRL race during the split and I can do without F1 as well. Max and Bernie have done so much to screw up the rules and increase costs with their constant changes I am ready to leave anyway. If you want to contain costs you have to have consistant rules. How many different engine packages have had to be developed in the last 10 or 15 years, let alone the totally new cars to put them in.
