Good eye !! Yes it is a '57 Chev. It's got a supercharged 600 H.P.motor and is blindingly fast. It just can't stop very well,or take many corners at speed.with that kind of power ,who cares.
Hey John, How does the new Vette compare with the C5(assuming you have driven a C5). Does the C6 feel considerably faster than the C5? Do you know when the convertible C6 will go on sale? Please share your driving impressions of the C6 if you were able to drive it.
Nice group of cars. How did you get the Vette already? You must one of the first in the country with one.
The C6 is a company car. It'll be in the dealerships soon. There are a some of them driving around the Motown area now as company cars. The photo op is the 3rd annual car-b-q hosted by the chief designer of the Corvette. There are usually 20 or so cars owned by many of the gearheads employed by the local car companies. The mix of cars is esoteric at best. From original Minis,'41 Chev pickup, couple of ferraris ,porsches, etc.
I haven't had a chance to drive the C6 yet, but everyone that has ,has been very impressed by the performance, handling, and the increase in interior quality. When i get the chance , i'll be able to compare it to my 355.
I don't have any right now,but i'll take some soon. The guy that owns the car works at the same place i do.Maybe i can get a shot of him "lighting em up" !
On the right is a 1978 Corvette Pace Car, next is a 1967 427 Corvette and the red car is a early 70's Camaro? Then a C4 Corvette? Mr. Peters Corvette in yellow looks great. The front fender has a nice curve to it from that angle, sort of creased P4 look about it. The 'great unwashed' get their chance at a '05 vert in October. It doesn't look like LeMans Blue will make production though... ch
Rounder : Very good ! Your eyes are a lot better than most.I can't remember whether or not the other car is a C4. The yellow convertible does not belong to T. Peters. It was driven that evening by D. Hill; Vehicle Line Exec./Chief Engineer.See the latest issue of Motor Trend for a detailed review of the C6.
Well there's the rub. When you said: "The photo op is the 3rd annual car-b-q hosted by the chief designer of the Corvette" I took that to mean Mr. Peters. In the old days a well known saying at the design centre was "there is only one guy around here who DESIGNS Corvettes and that's Bill Mitchell". Whoever gets control of the Corvette file has been very protective of their power there. Everbody has an idea of how the new Corvette should look but somebody has to say enough and this is what the shape will be. Getting to that point has proven very difficult. Even now some would say the design does not have enough "reach" to it. I think Mr. Peters has created a very interesting design that provides continuity for the Corvette heritage. The same can not be said for the new Ferrari F430 which lacks vision. ch
The car-b-q is held at T. Peters residence. And you're correct ,Tom was the Chief Designer for the new C6.We'll have to wait till the 430 comes out before we can really make a judgement about the design. From the shots we've seen so far , i'm looking forward to seeing it "in the flesh".Sounds like we have to wait till the Det. auto show this coming Jan.
