Just placed my order for an 09 California. I chose: Azzuro California Blue (Out of range color. Should have been included in standard color range! WTF California blue not standard on a model in homage of the California) Sabbia Black Carpets Scuderia Sheilds Daytona seats with fully electric heated lumbar adjustment Matching pillars and window arch Matching central console and armrest Rear seats Spare tire
Congratulations! I will order one soon as well. Just waiting for a confirmation on the availability of some options I want... Azzurro California will definitely be my choice as well. ^^ I've been told that I can have the black area at the rear (which I don't like) painted, at a cost of course. Have you ever considered that yourself?
The wheels were a source of much deliberation. I didn't like the standard 19 inch wheel at all at first. Then it grew on me and I actually like the flat wide spoke now. The star 19 inch are not available yet. The 20 inch rims are available but I didn't think I needed anything more flashy to add. Plus since I plan to drive it daily I thought a less harsh ride was more appealing.
The black area looks bad in a lot of pictures. But when I saw the car in person it was not an issue. I have to say that when I saw the cars at the California Launch they looked a bit off. Then last week I went to another event and the car looked 100%. I have the suspicion that the launch cars were not the real car. Or maybe they continued to make some changes. Or maybe my mind is playing tricks on me. If you pick a darker color then the contrast of the black stripe fades away. I, like you, thought about having it painted the body color- even using photoshop to experiment. I decided to trust Pininfarina and leave it. I can alway get it painted over. But I think I probably will come to appreciate the design statement.
Don't know exactly when it will go into production. Maybe at the end of the year? Quite a few options are not yet availble. That might help me move ahead of orders that are waiting on certain options.
I placed my order last week. Some options, as others have stated, were not yet available. By the way, I was in NYC today ( I live in Chicago) and they had a California at the Ferrari showroom on Park Avenue. I was needless to say excited to see a car I had ordered, but had never seen in the metal. I was beginning to get a little concerned given all of the negativity on this website about my decision. After seeing the car, and reading several reviews on the driving capabilities, I am 100% convinced I made the right choice. The car is fantastic looking. While looks are obviously subjective, I thought it looked great. It was silver with a black interior (not a color combo I would have chosen) and I was really very pleased with how it looks. Silver is actually a great color for the car; I think if it had contrasting red stitching with the black leather, it would have been even sweeter looking. I went with metallic black over tan myself based on the pictures from the Geneva auto show. I really don't get what folks are criticizing about the looks in general and the back in particular. I have had a bunch of sports cars in the past 5 years and presently own an Aston. I was looking for another convertible but wanted something a bit quicker and the California seemed like an obvious choice. Very happy with the decision after seeing it in person. I am honestly confused by the negative sentiment. While comfortable, money is an object for me, and if I am spending $200K+ on a car, I want to be able to drive and enjoy it everyday! While I respect what a Scuderia can do in a professional driver's hands, I doubt most owners will ever come even close to its full potential and owning a car like that just doesn't seem to make sense. To each his own I guess!
Congrats! I was also thinking about metallic black and tan too! There are a lot of great color combos for the car.
Awesome! It seems like you, laudaman (Chris), and me are the only ones that like the California. Viva la Ferrari California!
Congrats, Azurro California has always been my favourite colour for the California. It's the colour i would defferently have it in. I'm glad there are other people on these fourms that like the California. Congrats again.
Comments both + and - regarding any Ferrari's style, color, wheels....all are BS, simple opinions everyone should ignore. Eye is to the beholder, there is no such thing as ugly in life...except my wife I also agree re: Scuds not only are they well outside of normal drivers capabilities (true of most F-cars for that matter), where are you going to drive any F-Car safely at its high end of capabilities off track? It's like arguing over .2 seconds 0-60, who gives a horse dump? Enjoy, you've locked into the right attitude.
Congrats. I'm actually seriously thinking of selling my '07 430 and ordering a California. Fits my style better. Is the Azzuro Blue the color you see on alot of the marketing? There's also an article in the Ferrari magazine that has a photo of what i think that color would be. If so, you make an outstanding choice. That's going to be sweet.
Can you tell us how much time does it take the dealer to deliver a Cali after order is placed? Thanks in advance
Truth is, neither they, I or anyone knows regardless what the dealership or sales staff tells you. Want to test that out? Ask them, when they set a date for delivery, to include a reduction in price for every <insert> that goes bay without delivery. Bet they punt.
Yes, the Azzuro Blue is featured in the Michael Mann Cali movie and on a lot of the press materials. I am told that the paint is actually an updated version, a new California blue. A california blue car will be seen on an upcoming Entourage show.
I don't know how long it takes to go from taking the order to delivery. If your dealer gets 5 Cali's a month, and has already taken 20 orders then right there it will be 4 months before your order goes into production. So maybe 7 months from now or November delivery? I was told that the time when a customer cars begins production to delivery at the showroom takes 3-4 months. Also remember that the Factory goes on vacation for a few weeks during the summer.
