Heading back down to Phoenix next week. Looking for a good place to hike now that the weather has cooled down there. Anyone got any ideas? I stay in the northern part of the city.

And, no Ash...I don't want to hike up and down the aisles of Wal-Mart. :p

I always hike Camelback Mountain when I'm there. Not sure if that's what it's called, but it's just West of the shopping complex on Camelback Road in Scottsdale.

There is a trail going up from the East and another one that heads up from the West. I think the East trail is called Churro Trail. Great views.

    Just found this -

North Mountain, Camelback, Squaw (Piestawa) Peak. South Mountain Park is another one and is literally right in my back yard.

    ROFL!

PM (about to be) sent about what we discussed while I drove your ass to the airport! :p

+1 to these, I've gone up South Mountain a few times, as it's my aunts backyard too! I've heard Camelback is easy to climb and has great views of the city.

There is also Papago Park, which is my backyard, yet I've never gone up it. I've been trying to ship my mountain bike out here for a while.

Camelback is great to hike! Make sure you get there pretty early because sometimes you might have to wait a good hour just to park in the parking lot there, that is if you dont want to park another 1/2-1 mile away from the base of the mountain.

Will you be squeezing fresh lemons and strawberries for my ice-cold strawberry lemonade that you will have waiting for me on your patio? :D

My backyard backs up to the mountain and the public access trailhead is less than half a mile down the road. Feel free to call and stop by. I can pm my number if you'd like.

We have Danielle's two daughters that weekend so we could do a family friendly dinner place or you could come over and we could barbeque. We're here for the whole weekend so let us know what works for you.

Wow! That is generous! I think a BBQ could work for lunch or something. I'd be more than happy to bring something, or just a bottle of wine for you guys.

Let me talk to my mom and see if she has any plans for us first. :)

Ash...you aren't tall enough to get into THIS BBQ. ;):p:p:p

Sorry, just saw this today. I'll talk with Danielle and see what she says about what she'd like to do. She has a great recipe for stuffed hamburgers which is why I offered the BBQ. I need an excuse to get her to make them.

I hiked it this past weekend. The sign says it takes 2 hours but we are really fast and run abit so it took us just over an hour. It has some nice views with a golf course and big house's below. The trail is maintained well and I recemend it!
