    Is it stock?

Doesn't sound like it. It's that simple. We don't judge for what it can be.

Gotcha. It's a simple swap of spacers and and struts to get back to stock. This way I know if ever I go to an official judged event.

Yep. It's about originality, authenticity, and condition. If it's not stock (and discoverable), expect a deduction.

For instance: I got a point removed for use of SRI coolant hoses at my last concours -- totally expected and planned for it. On the other hand, I saved points by putting my stock front brake rotors back on the car (instead of the Girodisc ones which are obviously not stock). That, and a trio of 1/2 point deductions put me at 97.5 for the day; two of them were totally avoidable, I just missed them during my prep work.

What was the justification for the deduction on the hoses? Was that at the National?

There is no rule dictating brand. Rule 8 states they only need to have the same general appearance and be the correct size. SRI coolant hoses fit both restrictions.

I would complain. It is the judges responsibility to know those rules and the CCJ to see they are observed.

Wasn't national, but regional (NW Region FCA). Exterior of the hose does not have the same general appearance as the original type. As you know, SRI coolant hoses are not externally cloth braided so they clearly look different.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the end result as I did almost all the prep-work myself. However, I'm not about to change back to the cloth-braided crap just to save a point. If I can help educate our local judges, all the better. If there's precedence about SRI hoses I can point to in the future, I'd love to have that documented and on hand for the judges -- particularly when I get around to the Nationals.

Cloth braided was not used. It was rubber. Ferrari used cloth braided on fuel and air hose but not coolant hose.

In this case general appearance means it black and it is rubber, just like the tires. It has his name on it but so what? So does Gates, Dayco, and the original Italian crap.

We have these discussions all the time at National events and Cavallino to keep up to speed or rule changes and interpretations. There is nothing about SRI coolant hose that goes contrary to the IAC/PFA guidelines. That was not a justified deduction. Your local guys should contact Chris Current at FCA or you can and get the response. Have him ask me if he is unfamiliar with the situation. He has my number.

The fuel hose is a different story. I tried to get Dave to make it black but he wouldn't.

    Very good. Thank you.

Fortunately, those orange hoses are quite well hidden from casual sight.
