Probably the two best looking Rolexes IMO. Looking at pricing in Chrono24, the Platona is about $15k higher priced used (but also newer I guess).

What would your choice be and why?

Full disclosure, I probably won’t buy either, but they would be the grail watches of the brand for me.

Two great-looking watches but at the end of the day still Rolexes, meaning, they're distinct but not unique, movement and complications-wise. That said, it always comes down to personal preferences, buy what you like. For me, for that kind of money, I would be looking at a Lange, FPJ, or Patek watch.

Of the two, the Platona is just a better-looking all-around watch.

I like both, but for me the one to have/keep is the platinum Daytona. Nothing like the weight and the tone and color of it is beautiful. I wear mine as a daily…

Yes, I hear it is pretty heavy.

I do understand that Rolex is not a pinnacle of watch making, but brand recognition and value retention across the lineup is second to none.

I'm not really into either. The plain white face Zenith Daytona for me is THE watch. I have the version after that - white face SS with steel bezel. I'm not a big precious metal fan, but I guess if they made one in platinum that looked just like the Zenith Daytona... I'd be in. The gold watches never did much for me.... But I have seen a lot of them in the metal, and they all are very pretty, but for me SS is the way to go.

Love the Platona, especially the newest one with the see through caseback.

Never liked the Platona until I saw one - amazing watch, stunning in person and the weight, as was already mentioned. Called my AD and requested the watch, he responded, “I wouldn’t hold your breath”.
