How does 7.1 compare to the tsunami one?

Would this be considered an "aftershock"?

I don't know much about it being an aftershock, but I think the other one was around an 8, not too sure. How long did it take for the tsunami to come after the earthquake? A day or two?

Edit: The one on Dec 26th was a 9.0 and the largest aftershock was on December 26th and was also a 7.1 (I'm assuming today's wasn't an aftershock) http://www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk/latest_info.htm

It was in the 9's. wave is a matter of hours after, I believe. Soon, if anything.

    Would a 9 be 100 times bigger than a 7?

Yup! All that book learnin' done us good ;)
    >>The Richter magnitude test scale (or more correctly local magnitude ML scale) assigns a single number to quantify the size of an earthquake. It is a base-10 logarithmic scale obtained by calculating the logarithm of the combined horizontal amplitude of the largest displacement from zero on a seismogram. The diminution of amplitude due to distance between the earthquake epicenter and the seismometer is corrected for by subtracting the logarithm of the expected amplitude of a magnitude 0 event at that distance. This correction for distance is intended to make the local magnitude an absolute measure of earthquake size.<<

    Worse than that...more like a 1000.

A magnitude 7 earthquake produces 10 times more ground motion that a magnitude 6 earthquake, but it releases about 32 times more energy (square root of ten times ten). The energy release best indicates the destructive power of an earthquake.

Nearly, a 9 would be 1000 times bigger than a seven

Edit: Darn, 2 relpies while I was calculating it! ;)
