It is with a saddend heart that I want to say that, I have left the ferrari world. The 308 is gone, well she's still here just waiting on the delivery truck, she's going back to California from where she originally came. I'm not worried about her for she is going to a great owner enthusiast and fellow fchatter, and will even share the stable with another ferrari sister, (and one helluva good looking one at that).

She hasn't even left my garage yet and I already miss her. She was my first ferrari and will always have a speacial place in my heart. We shared several great miles together during our short relationship.
Thanks to all of you who helped make my introduction into the ferrari world possible.

I have learned so much about these cars over the last few years from all of you. I'm not leaving the ferrari world permanantely, but for a year or so until the finances make sense to get a 360. I thought about getting a 348 or 355 to fill the garage while waiting on the ultimate ferrari I want,
a red/tan 6 spd modena. Maybe by next christmas.
But after much deliberation I came to the conclusion to go a whole different route, I bought a 2002 Corvette C5, white/tan. It should arrive on tues/wed of this week, it's coming from Corvette Palace in Austin, TX.

The whole reson I wanted out of the 308 is because I wanted newer, more power and better comfort, (since I have a hour and 15 min. commute)
Plus it's something that my wife can share the joy of driving. The Vette fills of those needs. This will be my first vette also, so we will see how I like it, (I'm not known for keeping any car for long :) )

Right now my plan is to try it and see if I like it, then trade this winter for a 2005 C6, when the 2006's get out. then keep it for a year and then into a Modena ;)

So enough of this crap here are the pics !
(for anyone intrested there will be delivery pics in the car section next week)

Thanks again to all of you and please forgive my (hopefully brief) move to the other side.

I may drive a vette, but I still bleed, ROSA CORSA !!!
Ciao,

John

Good luck with the new car! C5's are definitely a step up in comfort and everyday usability. I must warn you though. You will go into some serious withdrawl soon. May your journey back to Ferrari ownership be swift. ;)

I think Chev only made 30 thousand in white that year??????

Sorry just had to throw that in!!:)

I have had everything car wise, including a Vett, but there is nothing like a Ferrari in my book!

Be nice to see pics of your new 360 next year...

Corvette Palace is only a few miles (maybe three?) from where I live. You should have just asked me to drive it over. =D

Congrats! Should be quite a fun car.

...AND you've gone to automatic!! What are we going to do with you.

J/k Perry - I know the feeling as well. I've also taken a break from my 355B and am in Porsche world right now. Not sure if I go back to the Prancing Horse or the Raging Bull from here, but even if the latter, like you, Rossa Corsa will always be my favorite color and will be in the stable at some point in the future.

You won't regret that move at all. Once you get a taste of the power and the handeling of the vette..the Ferrari will seem anemic in comparison. You will miss haveing a Ferrari, but you will enjoy the Vette more. Take it to the track and really let it hang..get to know the car and you will make mince meat out of any Ferrari including the 360.

Automatic!!! And you picked the C5 over the Z06 right next to it!!! Blasphemy!!!

It's truly unfortunate that you can't get a Z06 in a targa/convertible. They're purposebuilt, I know, but I'd want the extra oomph with the top down. That's just me though. Gotta have the spider!!

Great purchase. The C5 is an excellent car and truly very reliable-- not to mention beautiful. Nice color combo. Good luck!

I guess the only politically correct automatics are the ones that wear Ferrari badges... :)

Congrats, John, on the C5 -- she's a beaut. -- and a great color combo as well ! You and the wife will get plenty of enjoyment out the Vette.

I can certainly sympathize with your decision and reasoning behind the move...as well as your emotions of parting with the Ferrari. Having recently parted with the 308, the Testarossa, the F355, and the Maserati CC since January of this year, it's been a real roller coaster ride, but a lot of fun along the way! The mistake I made was buying the wife an '01 C5 back in Feb. and that car really grew on me.

Well, to make a long story short (and for a myriad of reasons) we decided to settle on a new '05 C6 Coupe automatic (see my profile) and have been thoroughly enjoying it...and, like yourself, I plan on getting into another Ferrari (or Lambo) down the road when the time is right...perhaps a 360, 550M, Diablo, or Gallardo...who knows...that's unless I pick up another Porsche by then. For now, the Vette fits the bill just fine!

I do, however, sort of miss the "aural" experience of the Ferrari engines...

Enjoy your C5!

Enjoy your corvette. I have made the change back and forth many, many times, it's not like you are changing your sex, it is reversible. And, as others have said, you might just like a car that actually has some grunt! Corvettes are OK in my book. See ya on the road!
Well lets see for a second....its white (woman color), his wife wanted to enjoy it (whipped) and he bought the auto (lazy driver choice). The transformation of this man to woman might be a true comment......what the heck happened to you John? My heart bleeds for you, you went the other way.

PS. Im really joking........

PSS. of where my heart bleeds for you...
You are right.....he is taking a walk on the wild side! Next thing you know he will get a Saab or a Volvo. Its a pity!
