Obviously I understand that, you are missing the point. 720 was saying the only thing great about the 488 was its performance and "would all you owners like the 488 if it was silent" I was just responding that was a silly thing to say and flipping his/her analogy by asking them if they would they still like the speciale if it just sounded great but drove terribly (like a lexus).

My point is that you can't measure these cars by simply one metric. Of course sound is one metric, but to me it not as important as speed, acceleration, handling, braking, and comfort. I would agree that 458 type cars (speciale may sound better at high RPM through acceleration, but the 488 is superior in all other metrics. Of course one critical caveat is that appreciation of a certain sound quality as "better" is SUBJECTIVE whereas all the other metrics are OBJECTIVELY measurable. Thus Objectively, the 488 is a superior car which cannot really be argued...............Peace out...

Wasn't that quote attributed to Enzo Ferrari?
It is contained in many pieces of Ferrari literature in that way.

I'm a little bit disappointed, nothing to say about the sound?

Hey, so unimportant all these "488 sound"-comments are, use your chance, YOU are important! Raise yourself from the crowd, open yourself, screaming out your opinion, screaming releases you - even if it is annoying, I have understanding, what a bad bad world. A 488 does not sound like a 458, has a turbo, is faster as a Speciale, yes, something like that can hurt. Dear chatters with hurt 458-feelings, apologize for my previous post that I was so insensitive.

I knew I'd get under your skin. LOL. You don't like being ignored. Accept it. You're as irrelevant as I am :) oh, I almost forgot. I don't like the way a 488 sounds. Kind of flatulent IMHO.

Ferrari has bad luck in turbo, so should stay away from it. Just look at the current F1. The Germans is the best in turbo stuff.

Hmmmmm..., as always analyzed in depth.

Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team: a Formula One racing team, based in Brackley, close to the Mercedes-Benz Formula One engine plant (formerly Ilmor Engineering (do you know the Swiss guy Mario Illien, co-founder of Ilmor ??)) in Brixworth, both United Kingdom, using a German license.

You're watching too many "why you should own gold" commercials.....(and there's no reason to end your comment with insulting words, as if you're the only statistical genius hanging around this forum.....most of us didn't get here by being "ignorant".....)

Funny how some of you guys are bashing forced induction. Forced induction is what will prolong the life of ICE. If you NA people lament the loss of sound ... Wait till the norm in society is self driving fuel cell cars.

    The unfortunate truth.

Don't get me wrong, I love the environment but exotics make up such
an infinitesimal percentage of passenger vehicles that imho it does not
really matter if they comply with emissions standards, on top of
it they are generally driven much less than regular cars.

As far as I am concerned I want my exotic to be a mobile flame-spitting
    ear-piercing-peace-disturbing BIOHAZARD :D
... save the word 'efficiency' for the millions of DD's ;)

every dealer is bending over backwards to give away the 458's.

Especially the modified ones which go for under the price of unmolested cars.

I figure the bottom for 458 pricing is at least a 1-2 yr away

So the fact that you see many out driving around (car is successful) it means owners are bored and think its generic. This is followed up by a guy that claims he sees more 918s than 488s and that must mean no one wants one.

Some absolutely mind numbing posts in this thread that make ZERO sense. By who...oh, 458 owners. I'm shocked.

Really? Where, I'll buy another one for 20% under market asking prices or even "whole sale prices" to use just for the track.
