I'm preemptively changing battery tomorrow that is a minimum of 3.5 years old. I'm assuming that the best way to keep middle aged electronics happy is to keep them juiced. Any counter thoughts?
    Thanx,

Not necessary. You will have to reset the clock. That's about it.

well at least for the 348 2.7M i think you gotta start it up and not do anything for a good ten min till the fans kick in while the ecu is learning all the new parameters.....

Yes, any mass air flow injection system records it's fuel maps at idle and throughout out the rpm range under different loads and is contiuosly adjusting them and "learning" the best air fuel mixture for the load/throttle position/rpm etc. The only hard map that doesn't change is wide open throttle on most. When you kill power all the "learning" is lost and has to remap. Not a big deal but the car is not at it's best until some idle time and a good cruise.

I've heard of electric damage from jump starts but not powering down and back up. Heck it has a built in battery cut off switch.

Shut the battery off before changing and all will be fine.
