Might be a stupid question but has anyone tried plugging just one side of their exhaust? When cruising I find the car too quiet with the valves closed but too loud with the valves open. Maybe just plugging one side is the goldilocks zone?

Much better IMO to limit the travel of both valves so that they cannot go fully closed.

That would not be a good idea at all, why not block off one of the air intakes halfway also? That is how i would compare that idea to. (no offense)

I prefer to unplug half the spark plugs. Or occasionally deflate 2 of the tyres.

I think you just need a remote for your valves. My guess is that it’s loud at the wrong time and quiet at the wrong time. With a remote valve control you can set when it is loud or quiet. For example when you drive off in the early morning you can be quiet. When you enter a cars and coffee you can be loud at low speeds and when you take a phone call on the highway you can set the exhaust to quiet mode so that you can actually hear the phone call without cranking up the volume to annoying.

Having control over the valves in my car with a push of the button has changed the whole experience.

To clarify, I mean plugging the vacuum hose to force the exhaust valve to stay permanently open. Not plugging the actual exhaust system!

I’ve got a Kline valved system on order. Going to take several months to get here. In the mean time, wondering if anyone tried plugging just one vacuum hose to provide a medium level of lower rpm noise?

Is that a DIY job? Or do you need a mechanic to sort it?

Two things... First, I wouldn't plug only one side of the exhaust valves. you want things even.
Second, I hope you ordered the Kline "button" to control the valves. I have the Kline exhaust and "button" valve controller and it's awesome.

I understand what you want to do but its plain stupid thing to do

Look at a dyno chart of the f430 it actually has more torque as the valves open
So effectively one side of the motor would be stronger than the other when valves open
    You are asking for trouble

And a valve controller wtf for? It only opens above 4000rpm or heavy throttle anyway
Dont want it loud dont floor it
If you floor it what do you expect
You are trying to create a problem when there isnt one

    Yes, definitively a DIY job.

Here is a picture of a F430 exhaust valve. It is in opened position. To close the valve, the rod is moving upward.
To limit the travel of the valve and prevent it to fully close, install a clamp on the valve rod or install a spacer where the red arrow is. The position of the clamp, or the thickness of the spacer, allows to define the final position and to tune the sound level you want.
