I found some frames for these things a while back. I'm not sure if they are exactly the same, they used 5-6h.p. lawn mower engines.

I've got a riding mower that I never use. It has a 12 hp electric start engine. I was thinking about trying to build a bike to use it on.

Ugh, I've had several close calls with kids on those things in my neighborhood AND for that reason they really ANNOY me. Parents need to seriously supervise their kids when they drive these things around the block.

Okay i agree with that one. But on a closed park or even on a kart track you think that they could be okay?

Yeah, I don't see why the wouldn't. They look like alot of fun but a REAL powerbike would be 'funner'.

There were a couple running around while I was setting up a world of wheels last year. They were pretty quick.

i was looking at getting one about 6 months ago, but i wanted one that was pseudo-street-legal coz i live close to the CBD and just want something simple and funky to haul my fat ass to werk.

legislation toward "scooters" has or is changing at the moment, so i decided to hold off, especially also back then there didn't seem to be any here, they were all "on order, arriving in oz soon...". i figgered i'd wait a few months and see how things pan out, they should be well cheap by then too.

even if it doesn't become street-legal, i've got a feeling there will be more interest in racing the little buggers on go-kart tracks and stuff... assuming liability insurance doesn't kill-off the idea before it starts.

    they're dam funny though. :D

    Fo' sure!

Its either these or maybe Karts...

Im leaning towards Karts unfortunatly. I have raced em before when i was younger. The problem is the expense. So i still might get into these little rockets. Ahhh the choices!

Mike, that's an awesome chopper and I'd love to know where I could get one.
Please list the brand and dealer if possible

Where I come from pocketbikes are italian racing machines ($3k-$5k). We race these bikes at local, regional, and national events. they are similar to traditional sportbikes in looks but have a 40cc or 50cc 2 stroke engine and are 1/3 the size. Please don't confuse these with the cheap chinese junk ($399-$499)that has hit the U.S. market in the last 12 months.

Pocketbikes or minimotos are a blast to race and not for the timid. 16hp 2 stroke will bring the front end off the ground in a heartbeat. Visit http://www.usmgp.com for more info on racing

    Hi Stan
    Look at http://www.jamtek.com.au/subs/4x4/product_info.php?cPath=62&products_id=117&osCsid=a15edc24485424f79e542c7ed5c1ef5e
for the Aussie distributer of that bike. It looks like the chinese crap you were talking about but heck, they look so good.

Yeah i have heard about the "real" things. Sounds pretty crazy to have such a capable machine that is so small. Technology is nuts!

Thanks for the site link. That racing looks intense!
