Does anyone have a pocket HD camera they use and love? I need something that is very portable that records in HD video for recording our weekends.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you considered an iPhone 4? My wife and I both have them and it has obsoleted our Kodak digital still/video camera. It can't truly keep up with quality of the stills the Kodak takes but it beats it on video. Also love that I can upload straight to YouTube from the phone.

Of course, the cameras from Flip are very popular/good but then you have another device to constantly remember to charge up, bring with you, etc.

I usually would recommend the Flip, Kodak Zi8, but last night, I heard about the Panasonic TA1, and it looks really good. I don't really want a video camera, but if I did I think I would try that out.

The zi8 issue is that the zooming is shaky and only 4x and 1080/30 is not really that smooth at 720/30 and if you don't mind the zooming it is very good, HDMI, SD slot, a lots of stuff

I found all of the "pocket" cameras to be garbage for what I need it for and that is correct, the image stabilization on all of them was sub-par. I went with a Sony Handycam which is incredibly tiny and has amazing features. Here's a quick phone pic of the size; being around women with huge purses all of the time also helps with storage when I'm not using it.

The Zi8 is pretty decent, remember the zoom on these things suck.

I was going to suggest heading to the local best buy or something and bringing a memory stick with you, that is what i do when i comparison shop:

Brilliant! I'm actually going to do that tomorrow as I still have my return policy.
Why I went with this exact model the CX-300 is because it's incredibly small... about 2 of my phones stacked on each other.

Thanks again on how to test them, great idea!

Whoa, that is sharp! Even when you zoomed in on the little sign far away, it was legible.

What exactly is 60i? Higher than 1080P?
