This is the latest proposal from Bernie's funny farm: WDC points for fastest laps in Friday's practice.

Yes it is dopey and devalues the racing points but as a fan going to the races I actually like this: It gives the teams an incentive to run in both practice sessions. I like that a lot.

No idea what the effect would be on the 3rd drivers. They might be the ones left holding the bag.

Points for free practice but not for pole position?

    I vote NO.

having a backup car would be nice, so if car is destroyed in practice, driver can still qualify.

I'm fine with this but points should also extend to qualy although one could argue maybe not because higher you qualy better chance of winning so qualy is already incentivized

Bernie's idea to get bigger audiences for Friday.

Personally I like the idea as a visitor of GPs.

Since when has he given two hoots about bums in seats? Particularly on Friday!

Maybe he should worry more about selling some of these places out on Sunday. Like maybe allowing the good old fashioned warm up and a few support races. I remember when there'd be an F3 race and an FF race on Sunday. Other than looking *terribly* slow, gave the fans something to watch, and FF in particular was generally pretty, let's says, 'entertaining'.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Agreed.

I sat through some hours of nothingness leading up to the race itself.

Point(s) for pole position is the only thing that I would agree on ... but soon Bernie will be giving points for the biggest number 2 on Friday morning ... sigh
