I hate this shiet more then anything in the world.
Make an appointment with a dermatologist NOW. Relief is available. Ask me how I know Erich with dermatologist on retainer
Defenitely go see a dermatologist. I usually get it twice a year because of my dog going into the woods. They can prescribe an ointment that is very strong and usually kills it in about 2 days. Good luck.
I have had it a lot worst in the past then this round, but still is a PITA when working. Caldryl and long sleeve shirts in 80 deg weather. Also, cold showers suck. And the lady friend can't come over. Darf- No box mastering.
my mom was exposed to it so many times as a child growing up in the south that i and my sister are both immune to poison oak and poison ivy. i dont react to it at all, though i do try to wash my hands after yanking it up in the yard. its EVERYWHERE here in Georgia. i hope you get better soon.
Thanks reaper! The thing that really sucks is I went 4wheeling in Hollister on Sunday with a bunch of friends. No issue there, no issue monday. Monday night, I decided to do some laundry, inculuding holister clothes, and I think carrying the clothes from room to washer got it on my arms, and then spread from there during monday night sleep. Tuesday am woke up with it all over my left arm, partially on my right and then this morning with some on my left hip and right inner lower(thank gawd) thigh. Time to wash the sheets, again. UGH.
It doesn't spread from place to place. It is a hypersensitivity problem. What happens is your immune system gets goosed by the poison ivy, and any other abrasions (like if you slightly scrape another part of your body) will display the reaction. It's not the "juice" from the sores. Obviously no one else can catch it from you. It will typically last 2 weeks and is miserable. Your doc may give you a shot of a cortico-steroid like prednisone or pills. there are also topical steroids for this. Good luck.
wish i had the time to go to a doctor..or wish a doctor would see me after 6pm....damn banker hours BTW, i think what i meant by spread is that it was on my sheets or something and when i slept, it allowed other parts of my body to become exposed.
Thats just what I'm saying does not happen, although it might appear that way. don't confuse the juice from the plant that can get on your clothes or your dog and then on you, that WILL cause it to exposed areas. But the juice from one of your sores does not get on other parts of your body and spread it. If you have a little scratch elsewhere, the immune system from the inside will make a lesion there, making it look like it spread from previous lesions. I feel like I'm not explaining it well.
I understand what you are saying. I was out in the sticks on Sunday. Monday, I went to work, and had no issue. Monday night, I got all the clothes together to do the laundry and I am 99% sure the clothes that were worn around the PO touched my exposed skin(carried on my left arm shirtless, hence the major exposre there and to the upper left hip.) As well, I put some of those clothes on my bed. I realize it is only the oil from the plant that causes the spread..not the sores. I just think I had contaminated(with the placing of oily clothes on my sheets/duvet cover) my entire room without realizing it. I won't even go into the deep gash from my Oakleys left at my hair line from that day.....almost stitch worthy too....
Just rewashing everything and all my sheets........and I got this stuff called IVYSTAT. Sounded cool, and it was the most expensive Longs had. Seems to be working quite well actually. Oh, and I have beer too, so I wont feel anything in about 5.4.3.2........... thanks for the advice..I knew what you were trying to say.....work was making my typing vague at best. Thank you!
Dude I had it last week...........keep spraying it with IVYSTAT. PS........If you have it bad enough the areas around the rash will start bruising. Just a heads up so you don't freak out!! chas
Heh..... try getting into some of the nastier poisonous varieties of Sumac. I had these blisters on my legs and arms. The red areas also blistered up and I had scars for a few years that were very sensative. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I went to the doctor and got a big shot of cortisone (IIRC) and he told me to let them drain on their own. You can't really tell from the pic but my whole knee joint was swollen really big and I couldn't bend it at all. I also had them on my arms and chest and basically had to sit really still and try not to bump the blisters. After four days or so I got didn drain a few of the bigger ones but it was really really really sensitive. FWIW I don't seem to have any reaction to poison oak
It grows on the Oregon coast...... I basically hiked through a big patch of it. Additional funny story.... I know a gal who happened to squat in the wrong patch of bushes while camping and got poison oak all over rather private area. It was pretty funny.
he's a urologist. not a gyno. Oh, and I tried to take pics of the arm, but they suck compared to your leg. so, here is the proof I am an idiot. (like much was needed ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
