Well usually people who outrun the police are idiots in the first place, regardless of what the police are driving.

Sadly, I call some of these idiots my friends. Some have gotten away (2 wheels), while most have been caught and arrested. Oh well, more business for the firm. :D

If i had done a crime and a peugeot came behind me i would be tempted to out run it, one of these behind me i would give up straightaway.

Well here in the states most police are driving the Chevy Caprice or the Ford Crown VIctoria. THey also have some mustangs, corvettes, camaras, tahoes and other cars. I heard some police cars now will be the new Dodge Magnum wagon.

My point was, even if I was driving an Enzo, and the cops had a lowly Caprice (its not that lowly), it would be stupid to run. THe reason is because police have lots more resources, i.e. helicopters, other police cars 50 miles ahead, spike strips and such.

I think people run, not so they will get away, but more for an adrenalin rush. It is dumb either way.

I have seen some of the English police chases on the TV show "world's wildest police videos."

I think the Ferrari was also seized from a drug dealer.

Ryan people who run from the police are dumb, i would use a car and drive from them.

All I'm going to say is this... it will take a well thought out plan to evade. I've seen that "Worlds Wildest Police Chases" series. One item of note, is that despite electronic resources and vehicles designed to stay in the chase, the police do things to disable the vehicle that they are chasing, the idiot criminal is doing nothing to disable to police. Look what they are dealing with when the chase ends, not exactly trained material there.

The real harm when they run, is the damage and injury they inflict on people just minding their own business.

I hate to stereotype but you are absolutely right. Usually there are two types of people they are dealing with on that show:
1)back country hicks (white) from alabama and stuff
2)black citizens from the inner city.

Running depends on a few factors. How far away they are from you, what you are in, do you have a road you can jump on and then take a quick left left, what are you being stopped for? Is it worth it? Each time I ran, it was worth it and I was far enough away, that I could jump on another road and take a few quick turns. The long fast chases are not the ones I like.
