I'm having the nose of my F355 repainted - and in the process took the two 3 inch round driving lights to Banchero's Glass and Etching in Kent 253-854-4877 to see if he could polish out the rock chips. What he said is that he could substantially improve their appearance but it wouldn't be perfect. Apparently he had time because he had to put a hold on all the glass trophys he had made for the Itialian Concours event that was cancelled. The cost for him to do this is approximately $200 for the pair compared to $862 for the two new replacement units which I would have to order from Ferrari and wait to receive.

I'll let you know how they look when I get them back on Tuesday.

Who's doing the paint work Dave, if you don't mind me asking and what's the damage? I think I'll be due myself by next summer. I'll be curious to see how it turns out!

    Dave,

When you get them back, I'll give you some 3M "stonegard" protective film that you can put on them, if you like. Prevents rock chips, etc..

I bought a sheet of it from Griot's Garage and there's some left over after doing the fog lights on my Boxer.

Its rich thayer at R & J Customs in Buckley WA. He did a street rod for a neighbor of mine that is the best black paint I have ever seen. The car was an open roadster that won locally best in show and then in Southern CA last year at a prestegeous car show that I don't know the name of.

I complained of the white primer coat that Ferrari uses on black cars. So he is shooting the Bumper and Hood with a new black primer product that is tough as hell. I saw the primer coat when i picked up the driving lights it really looked great. He said he almost broke the Ferrari emblem when he removed it from the hood. Apparently Ferrari uses an extremely strong double backed tape on that emblem to prevent theft.

If they have a substitute event on the 5th you should see it then.
