I was in Cairo, Egypt in 99, and every computer I used had windows. I even saw some computers using windows competely in Arabic.

    Ryan,

TonyH responded for the UK, so I'll vouch for a coutry that most people have never even heard of (I lived there for a while).

The Republic of Kiribati in the Central Pacific predominantly uses Windows. I would say that few kids use PC's, but those that do would use Windows.

    All the best
    Jamie

I live in Singapore, and at the moment, I use a pure Win2k pro PC. I used to dual boot with various distros of Linux, but found that Linux was still too immature and unuser friendly for my liking.

My kid is 7 months old now, at the age where he just likes to bang the keyboard here and there. When he's older, I'll be giving him equal time on Linux, BSD or some other flavor of Unix, as well as Windows. Oh, and he'll also be learning programming at an early age, just like I did.

Yes and yes, though the next computer to arrive in our household will be a Mac.

Good to hear! My wife just got a Mac Mini - the $500 entry model, with free keyboard and mouse, and a 17" LCD flatscreen on sale for $159. (USD) She's very happy with it (and now that we each have our own Mac, so am I :D).

Of course, maybe you're going for a big gun G5...

Turbo: my son is also 7 months, and he's always reaching for the keyboard, webcam, etc... we've been joking about when he's going to need his first computer. Maybe soon! :p

got my passport stamped by the Republic of Kiribati last year - beautiful place.

I'll add South Korea to the list of Windows. I'd bet 95% of the world is using Windows, legally or illegally.

Love those deals in the States! $159 for a LCD? Crazy!

Nah, just a PowerBook G4 for us old folks. The Wintel machine will be handed off to the boy, since he's asking...

I think Windows is a global evil. When I lived in India we used Windows, funny since most programmers are from there you'd think they'd be using something better. :D
