As long as Ferrari is not really interested in winning an F1 championship, Hamilton is good news - he gives hype and headlines.
Of course Ferrari would be happy winning, but they're not motivated enough to plan for it; their marketing approach works well without the racing, and for a long time, racing has not been a goal in itself.

It's not a matter of motivation. They don't have the engineers, strategists, drivers. They are unable to produce a WCD winning car. Pitwork is lousy. It's all wrong from top to bottom. If Elkann had the intelligence and power like di Montezemolo had, things would be very different.
