So, not heard of at a rate of 9:1...wow!

Gate Night is the official night of vandalism on the night preceeding Halloween. So if you were vandalized Oct 30th in any way...welcome to Gate Night! It's Tag or be Tagged!

I was just wondering if it was a local phenomenon or not. I'm still not sure.

4 drunk-asses rolled on my house on saturday. I did a little jet li ninja **** (was outside installing a rack on my car) and snuck up right next one of them before yelling "HEY!" He got all scared and bounced back to the truck which was like 2 houses down. Then the truck driver asked that guy if he was gonna have to kick my ass, hammered the throttle and pointed the truck right for me. Well ****, here's like 4 big dudes drunk out of their minds and looking for weakness - I took my chances standing my ground with the f-150 wailing in my direction. Anyway it worked and the jackasses left after a little "discussion" with the fattest of the fat.

    I didn't know this was a tradition ... shouldn't done a little more observation I guess.

Here in Detroit it is Devils' Night. Over 50,000 volunteers to help make it "Angels Night". There were 141 fires (up over 22%) in the three days up to Halloween.

I love some of the burbs around Detroit, but they ought to let the actual city burn to the ground...it's a crime ridden dump!!

In Southern Ontario growing up it was also called Devil's Night. People would come from Detroit to burn stuff.

In the UK (well in the area I grew up!) we have Mischief Night on Nov 4th. It's the night before Guy Fawks* night. Kids basically run around plying pranks on people and enjoying some mild vandalism!

*Guy Fawks night is November 5th when we light a bonfire with a model of Guy Fawks on it. We then let off fireworks and shiver. Guy Fawks tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament a few hundred years ago. He was caught and executed.

I don't remember a before-halloween mischief night tradition here in Dallas.

The big thing I remember about halloween was the whole thing almost dying out in the early '70s because of those horrible reports of razor blades in apples, etc.
