The problem is that I feel responsible for the coherenty of section. But I have the feeling that I am one of the few. Other people see this forum merely as a place to hang around and try to disrupt it all.
Of course we all understand what Alex is saying. Everybody, including me, sometimes get lost in a good conversation. But now you are more or less using it as an excuse to fool around. :(

In the end it is all up to you. I am not going to tell anyone how this section should be run. Just do what you think is right. But try to respect the others around.

In contrast to the other sections within this forum we will never be a true database of knowledge. We know nothing!!! We only chitchat.
Well....., if that is what you want then please continue. I just want you to know that I am not proud of it.

Thanks Ton - that's clearly coming from the heart.

Yes, sometimes conversations do drift off and I think that this thread is a good reminder to us all to try and maintain the focus. As people have got to know each other over the years, the "formality" has faded away in the Euro section, and conversations develop as they may have face-to-face. That's OK, as long as we maintain a sence of purpose and coherency.

Continual, deliberate hijacking could be an issue, and to you as moderator are expected to reign that in, so I understand where this thread came from. Your point about the Euro section not being a database of knowledge is a good one.... The Bonkers thread was started for a reason and perhaps that's where the MSN stuff should stay.

Ton, remember the words of Spider Man: "With great power comes great responsibility"! ;)

    Hang in there, MARK

    Hi from Kuala Lumpur.
Having a lot of free time in this period, I was on this forum a little bit longer than usual. I had the chance to look around more than usual and now I saw this thread. Sincerely I did not like it.

Without taking any part, I am friend to both, it seems to me that there is a clash of personalities.
Wolfgang on one side, Ton on the other.

Wolfgang takes this forum in a "ludicrous" way, being quite an artist in all his expressions. That means to me that if, for whatever reason, he feels like to post a comment in whatever post, even if the post does not pertains to the original spirit of the thread, he does it. Period. Sometimes everyone thinks this is funny, sometimes not.

Ton on the other hand is the Moderator, and part of his demanding and voluntary job is to keep things as straight as possible in his style.
As I said before in other threads, I respect Ton's work as I did respect Wolfgang's different stile before.

Simply put Ton is now the moderator, I think that due to the effort he puts in this he at least deserves some consideration and we should follow his guidelines. If someone does not agree with them, well he can always propose him self as moderator taking the burden of this position.
Wolfgang did this in his own stile for a while, and he did great. If someone, Wolfgang himself perhaps, wants to revert to the previous style, just step on and take the burden.
    Ciao
    Eugenio
P.S. I do not want to be a pompous a**, this is only my humble opinion. And I voted NO.

The words of Spider Man????? Ha ha!
Well, now I clearly have a person to look up to. :)

Thanks for your kind words. I see that you understand what I am trying to say. I don't want to make it a rigid, strictly-ruled forum. I just want EVERYBODY to be happy. And not just a small bunch of deliberate hijackers.

Being a moderator does bring responsibilities and sometimes that is not easy. At those moments I ask the whole group to participate in this responsibility. I don't like to chop off heads, I am more looking for a dialogue. But if I have to I will perform my duties. That is my job.

Let's all take our responsibilities and make this one happy smiling forum.

    :)

Well, actually the words of Peter Parkers grandfather, if I am not mistaken ;)

It´s all a matter of common courtesy. I see no reason why we should treat this section of Fchat, less serious than any other section of Fchat. This is Ferrarichat and in here we talk Ferrari. That is not to say that there is no room for having fun in the broadest sense in the word, but there is a place for that also in a number of specific topics. There is absolutely no reason nor necessity, to purposely steer any other thread off topic, thereby disregarding the initial subject, as posted by the threadstarter.

Ofcourse we must not allow to get it a sport to "hijack" the serious treads.
But because some people know eachother very well in here sometimes it gets "cosy" in here. I have no problems with it.
For real serious treads we have the Technical section, Classic section and the showroom. As I remember well, the regional sections are created to 'meet' people in your own country/region/state. This means also some funtalk. You can't keep it only in one tread (bonkers).
Ofcourse it is not MSN in here but it is an open chatforum.

Maybe you don't agree, but I am having lots of fun again in the EU section lately. Can't say that about 2-3-4 months ago. The dutch section "lived up" lately, see the Fchat meeting planned for 22/4/06.

So, watch out for to much hijacking, but please not to much serious talk.
Having fun is not forbidden in the EU section.

    Just my 0,02.

I have to agree with Roel on this one!!! I don't see a big problem in the EU section at all....
All is in good tone in here and there are sooo many very serious threads on Fchat :)
And there IS a lot of ************ in here and ofcourse also a lot of chitchat.... all because a lot of us know eachother from outside of Fchat too... So I guess it's only natural :)

At Fchat I have funny conversations.... very serious which are not about Ferrari ... BUT I never had a problem with finding good answers to my Ferrari related questions or if I need any kind of Ferrari related help or info :)

SO like Roel says.... we need room for fun too :) And sometimes it's just not very easy to be serious all the time... not even in a F-related thread ;)

What - there are serious threads on F-Chat? WHERE ?!

Hey, how's this - lets ban all use of smileys ?! Hahaha just kidding, never mind. Could be fun though, might force people to write and read with more attention. But personally, I'm no fan of hijacking of subjects.

I just cannot believe that you guys don't see the difference. Fun is OK! On purpose hijacking is NOT! It is really not so difficult.

    Live with it!!!
