I suppose I am somewhat guilty. I just like things clean... House, car interior, etc... It just seems wrong to accept dirt and filth in my living spaces and environment...

My wife likes to call it "Howarditis" meaning Howard Hughes. But then so many good things are dirty and Messy, like *** and a fine set of wheel bearings or CV's greased ready to go in!

Not just their cars. From various topics, I'd say it's not at all uncommon. And that's completely cool. My uncle is a bit OC, and he's learned to deal with it and not stress about it, and even have fun with it. There's nothing "wrong" about it, it's just another way people are individual, which is why I didn't put the "D" on.

OCD ruled my life for at least seven years. I don't know how it ended (or really just retreated), but life is simpler when you are guided by those voices. I am definitely in the percentage with it.

Count me out. I'd rather drive than clean, and my motors look it.

    Clean is good.
Spotless is great, but seems to interfere too much with driving!

NOT me. After three days of track time the past week all i have done is some pressure washing and sponging to get the vast amounts of brake dust off the rims (that stuff is corrosive). There are still quite a few clag marks on her.

i consider all the rock chips, clag marks, etc. a nice, natural patina :)

There is a lot more to OCD than having a propensity toward cleanliness. Counting things for example, like the number of letters in a sign or the number of steps it takes to get to the mailbox. Those suffering from it also have inane rituals like having to hit the side of the butter tub with their knives x number of times after taking butter out of it. It's really quite a PITA for those that are seriously afflicted. No, I'm not purporting to be an expert, I saw a news program on it once...very strange!!

I'm not an owner, but I think I'm mildly to moderately O.C.

I find it difficult to sleep if the house is a mess. I prefer things on coffee tables/countertops to be at right angles and in stacks if possible. When I pack things I check right after I pack, then I check again, then right before I leave I have to check just one last time. Something that goes along with this is a constant worry I've left something behind.

New Hampshire International Speedway. May 1, 2, 3, and 4 i'll be at Watkins Glen.

Jararri, it is just a lowish pressure water sprayers we got at Home Depot. Use the adjustable pressure nozzle as i feel there is no need to BLAST it with super high pressure. That and some elbow grease seems to work ok.

But if you have an extra Karcher laying around i'll take it :)

Is is true. I had the counting steps and walking in a certain pattern among other things. Math invades everything. Keeping track of the amount of tuna cans in the grocery display each week as an example. Or timing the traffic lights and counting the blinking don't walk symbol before it turns solid. It never really bothered me, but it did bother some people around me, and that pressure to change can be uncomfortable.
But having this disorder made me understand math and that in tun got me a good scholarship, providing a comfortable life for me now. So it's all good.

When I first bought my Lotus my goal was to restore it show condition, but I love driving it so much that now I just keep the paint shiney and the carpet clean. I don't detail it with a toothbrush. I think a true show car is a statue of a car, like fine art. This is correct for cars you don't normally drive (Jim G. being the notable exception!) but for most of us, it's impossible to drive a show car on a regular basis. One must understand what their particular car is all about.

I am a complete perfectionist when it comes to my graphic design work. My photography has to be pretty near perfect too in every aspect. Yep, I have OCD.
