I'm doing some research on what the current market is for Cabinet Systems in the Mid to high end market.

I am curious to see what you would pay for a Mid to High End Steel Cabinet system, (think Lista Quality cabinets), fully customizable, basically any color you want, and readily available, each component shipped assembled.

This poll is what would you be willing to pay for this Wall cabinet system?

Average wall systems being considered would be 12-15' in width, and include base and overhead cabinets, tall cabinets, integrated workbench and accessories (Drawer inserts, lighting, custom colors/decals, etc). Assume the system is fully customizable by choosing a combination of the available cabinet components.

If your requirements are more than 15', just multiply it by $X per 12'...so 18' would be $1.5x, 24' would be $2x, etc..

If you have recently purchased a cabinet system, please select the price range that best fits what you spent.

    Thanks!

P.S. No Poll option, so just feel free to reply with your answer.

Lista. Absolutely the best - bar none. Downside is the price. I have over $15K invested in a 18'x8' wall in both lower multi-drawer, and upper storage.

Did you ever consider that this kind of money would buy a man a pretty decent 66 Corvair?

Or a garage full of really nice Pacers. To answer, I am not really into paying too much for cabinets, so I am not your market. But I would spend maybe $5k at the most.

We are "investing" about $7k in new kitchen cabinets. My wife would probably not be too happy if I spent more than that on garage or shop cabinets.

I would have to say Lista is the best by far.......We have been buying Lista cabinets for 25 years at our factory, and we still have some of the original ones in use.

    Lista is great. No Doubt!

I've used Lista in personal garages, Race shops, manufacturing facilities and even engineering offices...if you have the funds, its definitely one of the best money can buy.

However, for average residential (and low end commercial) application, to outfit a 12-15' wall, we're talking 15-20k after its all accessorized and optioned.

I'm basically trying to find out how much of the market would be interested in a $5k equivalent to a $15-20k Lista package.

There seems to be a trend thats started in the past 5-10years, and its been written about and shown on TV quite often in the past 2-3 years specifically. The trend is the garage is becoming sort of a second living room. Just like a kitchen, I feel a well outfitted/furnished garage can bring a lot of value to a house. As with a kitchen, you want to spend the extra couple bucks, because if you are planning to sell the house at some point, it'll help raise the value of the property.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Buy the best you can afford and don't be cheap on kitchen cabinets and counter tops...when we remodeled our kitchen a few years back I believe the custom cabinets were around $30k...you get an almost dollar for dollar return on investment with a kitchen remodel

I know you did not mean to offend the $7K mentioned above. I find kitchen cabinets insanely expensive and even at the big dollars, I do not find any of the quality to be worth the money. When I get around to new cabinets in a couple years, I'll buy high-end rosewood and reface the cabinets myself. I priced the wood out a few months ago and would spend about $3000 on the high side from a Florida wood importer and $1000 on really nice hardware. Between my tabel saw, 18" planer, router and radial arm saw (And PLENTY of sanding), I'll come out with nice new cabinets and save several thousand dollars (And have the quality I want).

My opinion is that cabinetry does not 'make' a garage/shop--square footage does...
I'd much rather spend money on a large, open, usable space.

EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME! OK, Sea Lions! (The pic of you dragging one down the beach looked like a seal).

Foot hurts......I'd rather be a dead SEA LION being dragged down the beach with your poodle sniffing my butt:D

I know you flatlanders can't tell the difference, but that was just the head I was dragging.
A seal weighs about 75 lbs. A sea lion weighs about 400 lbs.
What's the doc say about the foot--other than it's going to hurt?
