apologies for being off model for this post, but I’m at The Greenbrier, Concours this weekend, and they have a lovely Roma in Verde Francesca. I’d be open to 12 Cilindri in this color, no shields, silver front fascia. You hearing me FNA? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The front looks great in my opinion, but the black vents on the hood as well as the weird black rear decklid look off. If Ferrari got rid of those elements, brought back the round taillights (these new designs are not going to age well imo), and brought back round exhaust tips this car would be the best Ferrari design in the last decade. The molding around the rear arches is phenomenal, but the overall shape/design is let down by some head-scratching stylistic details.
Well I find it interesting especially since I have a Daytona in the garage. Actually my older son is trying to convince me do do the new car in the exact same color as my Daytona complete with the stripes I have on the 365GTB/4. I am not so sure but will see.
I wish the design concept was more forward oriented as opposed to looking to the past for inspiration. With that said, since this is what they chose, I don’t think you could do the design without the black strip, and it is well executed. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I disagree. When you look at the pics of the car with the black stripe phosotshoped out, you see that the proportion and the shape is fantastic. The black stripe is simply a nod to the past.
I agree with @crinoid, the overall shape and contours are beautiful and it works well (better IMO) without the black bits, even if that wasn't the intention.
Given that a number of folks have commented that the black bits at the back are more controversial than the section between the headlights, I created two new polls. One for the coupe, one for the spider.
Si lo quieres quitar todo, lo configuras negro y punto se acabaron las franjas delantera y trasera la mejor opción para quien no le guste , aunque no se si se verá el frontal demasiado plano , If you want to remove everything, you configure it black and that's it, the front and rear stripes are gone, the best option for those who don't like it, although I don't know if the front will look too flat,
There are a few renders floating around in black from the configurator. It does hide the black trim (at least in the renders). But...what if you don't want a black car?
I think the black strip is gorgeous personally. Great balance between modern feel and vintage tribute for the 365 Daytona. L Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
If you start with the premise that the black trim is essential to the design then you're right: I don't like the car. (At least for the moment. I reserve the right to change my mind when I see it in person. ) But that premise seems a bit silly to me. My criticism of the design is limited to the black trim. To my eye, it looks contrived and dominates an otherwise beautiful design. I know that Manzoni would disagree, but I don't think it's central to the car; I think it detracts from it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, not the creator. Some like @ponyis458 love it and that's great! I hope most people like it because apparently it's here to stay. But if it were up to me, I'd let customers choose for themselves. Painting the car to match the trim is backwards - and not much of a choice.
I've noticed that it's in a metallic black (nero daytona) as opposed to being gloss like we're used it. Maybe to match the metallic paint? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mr. "Over my dead body" is going to meet the aftermarket body wrappers and lose. The black bits/delta wing stuff is going to age poorly, IMHO. But as usual with modern Ferraris, we won't really know until we start seeing a selection of them on the road. Dramatic angles often emphasize elements that are less jarring in the real world. I also think that the black should be extended further. That little piece of body color between the headlight and front wheel bothers me. Bad MSPaint fix below.
Yeah that piece looks odd to me, could've been part of the headlights or something. Anyways... front bar in body color, side bit in black, winglets in body color, etc... all of these parts seem easy to remove and paint/wrap, and relatively cheap to do. I might just do all the variations when I get mine and see what I like best. It's really not as big of a deal as people here make it out to be.
