[Poll]: What viscosity oil are *you* using in your 308?

Agreed on the ZDDP. M1 0W-40 is just a tick below the 15W-50 as far as the ZDDP levels go.

15W may lack the needed lower viscosity to get to all the engine parts at start up. As I have read over and over again, that's when much of the engine wear and tear takes place. A 10W-50 or 5W-50 would be optimal for startups and redlining IMHO.

In my case the M1 15W pushes my oil pressure to 80psi at 900rpm which is way too high. The M1 0W does 45psi at 900rpm during start up which is right where I need it to be.

I'll be trying the Quartz 10W-50 next.

High oil pressure when cold wastes a bit of gas but generally doesn't have any other negative effects....other than with a thicker oil you want to let the engine idle a bit to get warm vs basically start and go with a 0w. I agree though there are better options, 5w50 is probably the best all around choice, but I like a 15 or 20w for HARD driving because they require less additives which tends to make them more stable.
