Has anyone in this forum replaced/rebuilt their suspensions using the newer poly bushings..The Ferrari rubber stuff is NOS and very old when you get it and not of adaquate quality IMHO and WAY too expensive..I have started to research the newer parts and they are ALL readily available, however it's hard to "mic" the bushings while still on the car..Has anyone here done this yet? It makes no sense to me to tear the car apart "before need"..I would really appreciate any and all info on this subject..My OE bushings are still in tact but of course they'll be another system that needs refreshing eventually...once again..thanks in advance..Jacques(1980 400i 28903).

Jacques, I have no experince in a Ferrari but a lot of experince with the Polyurathane bushings in Porsche 911's and it is not good for street and OK at best for track driveing. They squeek no matter what lubricant you use eventually, and they bind , and they transfer road vibrations. the only reason we used them in track cars becouse they are cheap way to hold they suspension geomentry. but there are much better ways. I hope you have decided to keep your car, sure sounds like a nice one and the market is a brute now, Fritz

Brett at Gran Turismo is rebuilding my 365 and he is also working on a 400 for another guy. He has replaced and or is replacing many of the bushings on these cars. In one of the pictures he posted I could not help but notice a very nice digital cliper that could easily measure bushings. You might try contacting him for assistance.

I am in the process of replacing the ones in my 365 GT4/2+2 it is so confusing with the obsolete parts. I am going back to original bushings. The ball joints are what vary in price. it is a good time to be buying though. I have been toying with the idea of mking the sway bar busings out of polyurethane. Maybe reduce a little body roll. I agree with Fritz I can hear the poly a arm bushes in my Pantera when I am on the grass. On pavement the tires and exhaust drown them out. They were already on it when I bought the car. The poly bushes on my four wheeler drive me nuts though.

I would never have dreamed that poly bushings are sooo annoying..maybe after some of you have done the heavy lifting, I might try mine..have we found any alternative source(s) for conventional bushings?..I have the complete list of bushings..Ferrari #'s of course..I've already replaced the ball joints..exactlly the same parts as on the GTC coupe' all the way through the 412..hope this helps..Good night..and Good luck..Jacques.
