About 4 months ago I bought my aunt/uncle's 1966 Porsche 912 and 1965 Ford Mustang. Both cars they had owned since the mid 90's. Both cars had been sitting for a couple years unused in the garage.

I "woke up" the Mustang about a month ago. Why didn't they build Porsches like this? After not much fiddling around I was bombing around Seattle in my 289. I'm looking for Johnny so me and the rest of my soc buddies can rough him up (Outsiders).

I'm trying my first "Bring a Trailer" auction. Very slick operation those guys have. Sort of the "Uber" of the cheap collector car world.

    1965 Ford Mustang 289 3-Speed | Bring a Trailer

It's over today at 1:30 pm Pacific time. The reserve is already met. Any guesses on what it goes for? I had no idea what the car would bring.

The BaT auction format is somewhat unique. Any last second bid extends the auction another 3 minutes. No sniping.

I realize this is canon fodder compared to the usual top shelf items around here. Someone has to roll around in the mud it may as well be me. Lol.

The comments section on the auction reads like a mid-America 60's memoir.

Bat is great, and the owner is even cooler.

They featured a grey market car I had for sale, and the comment section was riddled with people claiming they were going to notify law enforcement... The first time in the sites history, he pulled the feature for me. Within hours of it being listed I had over 20 emails, sold the car basically that day for a very high premium. Wonderful tool if you have something that stands out.

I know a dealer who has been using BAT auction services, and has nothing but positive things to say. I've seen a few things roll across, where the comment section probably had a negative affect on the selling price though..

It's still a somewhat new service to the site, but lately it seems like it's really been kicking off.

    Best of luck.

I'd be a player for the 912. And yes, a Mustang is a lot easier to wakeup

I get it, yes sir. Back in the day, the 64.5 cars were not referred to as that. They were all 1965 models. Its only now that the very, very early 1965 models are 64.5 models.

There are well known characteristics that differentiate a 64.5 from a 65. Easily learned on ze interwebz. My car is a 1965 built 12/16/1964 at the Dearborn plant.

Thanks! I didn't mean for this to be a classified listing. Srsly! I just thought some fchat American iron experts would have fun guessing what the final number would be. It's pocket change around here.

I would think at least $15K, seriously...but what do I know?

It's about the eyeballs and wallets that see the ad.

We bored one out to 302CI, Mallory racing ignition, headers and drag raced it until it exploded...!!!

Actually it was detroyed in a game of "chicken", my friend's nose stuck in the shattered windshield...they found it though and sewed it back on, I think he's okay these days....

It was the epicenter of the shattered windshield...

Yes, but once it takes, skin is pretty damned amazing, I have surgery all the time for minor cancers, and in a year even the scar fades away....

He's just lucky they iced it, and took it along to the ER!

Seat belts were not common until 1967 or so....
