i have a '80 boxer. just took it for it's first spring drive today. seems like car pulls ok to about 5,000 rpm; then it seems to fall flat. it also seems to 'cough' as soon as you let of accelerator pedal. it will pull to 7,000 rpm, but slowly. also, what is the approximate setting for the idle/air set screws. i usually lightly screw in until engine falls off; gthen open 1 full turn. any ideas appreciated. car did sit for a few months- i suspect plugged jets?

    Hi Dave,
Unlikely to be jets, as the main are doing all the work at the higher rpms. Sounds like your advance is not working to me- easy to check. I just got back from Caterham UK- Willy gave me a ride in the new Duratec-powered Superlight R500 (Evo test car). 263hp, under 1100 lbs, sequential box. Brisk. -- Jon
