I would love to have one of these, but have found them hard to find and the ones you do find have so much to do to make them right. WIth prices going up, hopefully, they will fixed correctly.

I was looking for one of these in the mid 2000's when they sold for about $30k, and I couldn't find a decent one. I am sur ethey existed, but there were so MANY dogs for such a limited production car.

Given what it takes to make a 246 right, I can't see making a Fiat Dino right with a modern selling price of $60k.

I like the design and the look and would even consider a 206 Fiat Dino, but want to not look at a "fresh" redo, as it is so easy to hide stuff.

I love Fiat Dinos, but I think even $35K is too much.

The BARGAIN of the century - right now - is a S1 E-Type FHC, IMHO. Call me biased, but I'd take my '66 E-Type over the Fiat Dino any day of the week. With extensive work and purchase, I'm in my car for less than $30K FWIW.

There are SO many things wrong with that Ebay Dino I don't even know where to start, I would not consider anything over $25k for that Dino on Ebay right now and that would ONLY be after a thorough check of the motor/gearbox etc. If they cut that many corners on the restoration, I would think its safe to assume they did the same on the motor.

And to the original poster that said the last 424 were built in Maranello that does not really matter where they were built they still were a FIAT and the 2.0 motor is a better motor :) It seems to rev faster and while the 2.0 is slower, seat of the pants feels faster because it revs so happily.

May not matter to you but it matters to some.

    My 2.4 Revs quite nicely.

Oh, I know it matters to some people, they are proud that it was built in Maranello by Ferrari workers (and they should be, I would be too, its just not a selling point in my book) but its still has a FIAT nameplate.

I have driven both and I prefer the 2.0 but its also what I own so I am biased, I do wish I had a 2.4 because engine parts are easier to find and I drive mine a lot. I am either on 2 wheels or the Dino, 2 wheels when it rains since I avoid the rain in the Dino.

I don't frequent this forum much, but am a big Dino 206/246 fan. (Owned 5898 way back when.)

But this post and line of thinking is - to me - forecast of the year. The Boxer is the bargain of the whole 12 cylinder world, its future appears quite bright.

Sorry to go OT. The ebay link of the Fiat in the rare 'mustard and ketchup edition' doesn't win many fans.

Oh please....... the market talks and the Fiat Dino holds strong. The BB512 being post 1975 smog and grey will always have a problem.

Mike R knows more about the Fiat Dino than few people ever. That's what I'm referring to.

"I am fairly certain I am selling my 1971 Fiat Dino Spider (title says
1972, but based on my research is really a 1971). Any ideas? put it on
eBay or ad to club members? I want to sell asap. The car does not need
anything. It just had carbs rebuilt, brake lines replaced with braided
lines from Superperformance, ignition parts replaced, cables, etc.
radiator completely flushed and runs very cool. Fuel lines replaced.
Semi-restored in mid 1990's and garaged since."
Some of you may remember this email from Dave Shamens, Charlotte NC, about a year ago. I bought this car, after talking with dave it was clear that he had no idea of the condition of the car. I bought it sight unseen because I suspected it would be hard to find another 2.4, which is what I wanted, anytime soon, and it would likely need everything too.
The engine had bent valves, it is now rebuilt including replacing everything but the crank and rods, and cams. The brakes hadnt been serviced in years, all rebuilt now. The gearbox was full of black tar, now rebuilt. the bushings, shocks, springs, brake proportioning valve, exhaust system, vacuum pump, oil pump, water pump, radiator, heater core, basically any mechanical thing that rotated, wiggled, or held fluids was rebuit or replaced. The rust in the doors and sills was repaired. Last week I drove it fron Sc home to SD. It is a sweet little car, has a lot more torque than I tought it would, and is definitly faster than the little engined version, dont you know. I will post more someday, I am very bad at downsixing the photos, there must be a better way than what I do.

Similar to the 1300 vs 1600 Alfa debate but both are nice!

I don't have a Fiat Dino there. There was a 246 and 206 Fiat Dino coupe there last I was there.

But, the Fiat 124 that is dead was a cool car to have fun with....at one time
