Even at $10,000, that is $5,000 too much.

That's the perfect car to buy and hone your skills on, then buy the 308 you really want and use this one for parts. You could part it out as well and maybe break even on it if you only paid $10k for it.

Wouldn't it be better sell by parts and hang the car's body on a Hard Rock cafe wall or somenthing like that?

I agree, the perfect car to play with and make a real Ferrari out of it...a DRIVER.

I am checking into the rules for bringing into the Republic of Calif. Mom happens to be a retired upholstery shop owner so the interior is free :) and the motor and body are all mine to do.

A car like this is perfect for someone who can do the work himself and does not want a concours or garage queen. You can't be a checkbook restorer with this one as the price is already high to break even but someone who can do the work might break even and have a great car when done.

You could get the body work done, assuming you're not going to bare metal respray it (and why would you) for $5k, rebuild the engine yourself with better pistons and cams for another $5k in parts, set it up with some webers, new leather (again, it's a driver) and have yourself a nice driver for less than $25k. At least you'd know what is and isn't good on it.

The best part is the shipping is only $12.95!

The shipping is a real bargain at 12.95 anywhere in the US via UPS . :)

I saw that car the other day, hence my posting concerning the incorrect rear deck lid louvers in the tech section. I was wondering about the bidding on that car. Check the bidding history. The same 3 or 4 guys jumping in DAYS before the time is up, bidding thousands over the next guy, over and over again. If anybody REALLY REALLY wanted that car, why wouldn't you just wait until 15 minutes or less before the auction ends and just fire off a bid for the maximum amount you would be willing to pay? Why would any idiot hop on E-Bay each day and bid another thousand over the next guy and therefore expose that fact that you're even interested in the car?

    Smells like shilling to me.

With apologies to those who live there, did you notice the state it's in? (Besides the state of disrepair that is!) Jeff Foxworthy could do a bit on that car.

That car would be an excellent track car project. Ditch the interior for racing equipment. The suspension will most likely need to be replaced anyway so do it right with aftermarket stuff. (can you say penske?) Pull the engine to replace the belts and clean it up a bit. At that time switch to a carb set up, do cams and mild engine overhaul and perhaps a porting job. You can have a hell of a 308 track ready car for about 30k. Not to mention doing most of the work yourself you can fix it should something break later on. Here in NH it would still be streetable after all of that too.

I've been watching the add as well. I found it minutes after it was listed and was thinking I would wait till the end and toss a bid out there. I am at a loss as to why these guys are having their little bidding war this early. I was thinking 10 grand at the max but now I think it's more than I would be willing to spend. I may just buy a GTB roller and put a 348/915 combo in the back. I loved building model cars from scratch when I was a kid....I've just moved on to bigger models in my adulthood.

Anybody have a spare GTB chassis lying around:) lol

It also has the Euro front bumper but it is not recessed. It sticks out like all US versions. And the rear is euro but the mirrors are US. Strange!

You could buy the thing for 10k. Part it out and sell the parts back on ebay for 20k.

Where is Shaunessey when you need him. In fact, I would not be surprised if he bids on it. Unless he has quite the 308 game.

Yes...ok for 10K but I have a feeling it's going to go for a few grand more. It's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it I guess.

I'm pretty sure the bidders are friends of the seller, doing him a favour by placing bids and letting the car seem 'hot' in the market....
