i went there for one year...but i forgot to learn something!...apart from Latin, which has come in very useful over the years.
I recall reading somwhere once that a hyphen or some other symbol was left out of the computer code for a NASA rocket launch (unmanned) and the rocket expired in a large cloud of smoke & fire. That's an expensive mistake...
oh there are lots of those mistakes in the space industry but also some good ones in the F1 world as well, like the software that wouldn't let the car start because it thought it was still in the garage
Always made sense to me - you're starting the shutdown procedure, which has many steps (close apps, flush caches, etc etc). You can still just flick the switch if you really want, but it's not a great idea </MrSerious>
