Yeah, I wasn't overly impressed with her whole demeanor after not winning gold. She had a "holier than thou" attitude before even competing in her 1st event.

That picture is being photoshopped all over the place, superimposed on the situation room photograph from the Bin Laden raid, the painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware, etc. It's not the worst sportsmanship I've ever seen, but she could have shown some more class, after all, there were plenty of others that didn't win a medal. I know nothing about gymnastics, other than I can't do any of the stuff gymnasts do, was there a controversial decision at that competition?

You know it is asking a lot for you all to say a 16-year-old girl who has probably sacrificed everything (including some degree of normal social development) to be the undisputed best in the world and make a mistake that cost her what everyone knew she could achieve to promptly be smiley or stoic. The vault has probably been her LIFE for YEARS and the Olympics the pinnacle. She got 2 vaults, sat down on the second and lost a gold medal she could have otherwise easily achieved.

I took the scowl as disgust at herself, not denigrating any other competitor and that comes with the territory of the hard work and ego it takes to be the world's best.

Maybe not bad sportmanship, but certainly unflattering behavior was when Nancy Kerrigan won silver ('94?) she was paid by Disney to do a parade and promotionals. Paid $2M to do little to nothing except show your face. She was caught on mic saying it ws the corniest thing she had ever done.
