    Hi folks

I had perfectly working headlights until las week - the motors both worked and the stalk did what it was supposed to. I have been working on other parts of the electrics and now the stalk does absolutely nothing except the daylight flashing works (by pulling the stalk towards you).

What would have disabled all the headlight functionality? I haven't messed around with the stalk, and there are multiple fuses and relays for this system, so how could all the functionality have failed suddenly in this way? Any ideas would be most welcome.

I have a 412. Fuse board photo attached.

I have discovered the manual override knobs on top of the motors. When I turn one, it appears to be trying to drive down (it is already down).

Something you can easily check and fix or rule out, is a disconnected wire in the light stalk switch.

This video shows the issue on a 308, and I just fixed this on my 328. I think your stalk is the same.

There are also plenty of threads in the 308/328 forum detailing the issue and fix.
    Good luck!

Thank you for your replies. I have examined the stalk and that is a very helpful video.

I have located the problem. The answer to the question "what would have disabled all the headlight functionality" is that there is a multi-pin connector connecting the left-hand stalk to the car located above the ignition switch. This connector had come undone as I was messing around in that area, but it was hard to spot. It was also extremely hard to reconnect as there is very little slack on one of the bundle of wires.

As noted above, this connector does not handle the daylight flashing signal.
