Anyone here owned/driven one of these? I've found what looks like great '62 Super 90 and was thinking of buying it as a weekend driver. I can deal with the fact that 90bhp isn't going to win a lot of drag races. Just wondered about how fussy the carbs are, basic reliability, how tiring it might be to shift, clutch action, etc.
They are 10 times more livable than any old British sports car. Quiet, ride nice, relatively reliable. Almost every car has had significant rust damage, so the question is only: how well was the repair done?
That's what I hoped. My old MGB was nice to look at, but it was a perpetual project and scary above 50mph. The car's in California, so I'm hoping there was no rust damage to repair, and the floorpans are solid. All of them seem to have been repainted, though - 40-50 year old cars, comes with the territory.
They are great little cars and can be very reliable if exercised regularly. Clutch action is fairly light and the gearbox is synchronized so there is really no fatigue associated with driving them that I have experienced. Have fun!
Hey, I had a Super 90 T6 coupe once upon a time! Neat car. They handle real well and have go-cart like steering. Typical Porsche shifting, maintenance is very simple. They are reliable and if they do break its cheap and easy to fix. Lots of fun! Terry
Neat cars, but feel a little unstable for my liking. My bro's best friend is at Mckenna Porsche, he says he feels like he could roll that car with little effort. Probably the only P-car I'd ever consider owning, that is after a little suspension work.
Reliable and cheap to fix sounds good... I want a classic car in the garage, and the true classic Ferrari's are out of my league. I'm looking at Super 90s (probably a C or later), but need the cabrio. I'm guessing the car's light enough that even 90bhp is entertaining.
