Supposedly this 928 was owned by Paul Stanley from KISS from 1993 to 1998. Too bad you can't get it directly from him. Click Here
its odd Paul Stanley would have purchased a used 928 at the time when he could have had a brand new 928GTS..he could certainly afford it. Probably true..but still odd.
I would highly doubt that Paul Stanley from KISS owned this car, if not for the simple fact that there's GOT to be more than one person named Paul Stanley in this world, I don't see the seller offering any other proof other than the old title... It does seem odd...
Im a KISS fan but not a 928 fan! In the pics, that is Paul Stanley standing next to the car. But why would he buy that 928 when it was 5 years old in 1993? Odd? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
why can't a rock star buy a used car? i assume those things depreciated like a rock through a wet paper bag back when. maybe he's a SMART rock star (which admittedly is rare!). doody.
Well KISS is the pinnacle of marketing for a band. I'd assume he's very business savy and therefor very money savy.
I love the 928's. Very nice. I'd take a 1995 GTS over a lot of cars, that thing is a beast, the design is classic. Regular 928's get no love.
Not all band members are paid the same, either. I don't know KISS history - was he an original member? It is possible that certain members take a salary vs. being paid profit % (or a very small % and salary). This is common thing when bands need a replacement drummer, bassist, etc. - they don't want to share the songwriting proceeds or other big money with the new guy.
Paul is/was the original singer/rythm guitarist in the band since they formed. They would have made some serious money mate over the years. KISS was HUGE!!!!!!!!!!! I love them! Although Gene Simmons, the bassist, has made a MUCH larger fortune over the last few years. He has his hands in everything it seems. He was the brains in KISS. Quite the business man Gene. Only twice he admits/claims to taking drugs in his life. Once was accidently slipping cocaine in his coffee which he thought was suger that was on the mixing desk in their recording studio. The other time was "hash" muffins. Because he was hungry, he naively ate a few. But...........Paul would still have plenty of money to afford something better than a 928. Maybe he just likes the car? Paul is in the top left of this pic. Gene Simmons to the top right. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I currently have a Euro 930 slantnose for sale.....the first owner of the car was Sting from the Police.......it's a neat part of the car's history, but totally and utterly worthless on the dollar side of the equation.....same goes for this car......if anything IMHO, cars owned by rock stars and professional atheletes arae to be held in a lower regard than most others.
I'll be damned, I didn't look close enough at the pics at the bottom of the e bay listing.. Sorry bout that...
Travolta does it with Rolls Royces/Bentleys-he buys them used after the depreciation hit;he was asked about it in an interview and he said that he wanted a good deal and didn't have to prove anything to anyone....
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley own KISS. I dont know what the percentage breakdown is ( obviously Gene owns more and controls the business) but the other members are/were employees and paid a salary, etc. In 1995 Paul Stanley would be worth north of $50m. I understand Travoltas philosophy as I am the same way..let someone else take the intial hit of depreciation but thats usually after a year or so of a car being on the market...you are still getting the most current model. By the time Stanley bought this car it was obsolete with both the S4 and GTS being for sale...and its not like it was 'special' or desirable in any way. Just another 928. Im really bored if Im putting this much thought into this..lol
unless previously owned by jay leno or reggie jackson. they may actually add to value as they are know as proper and loving collectors. a buyer would take comfort in buying a car from them thus a premium.
I had a rare (1 of 74) 928 Clubsport, I loved that car, the Mondial seemed so sloooow after driving that
I had a 95 GTS manual for four years, sold it beginning of 2004, to this day I am sorry I did, one of the best cars I have ever owned. Steve
Several companies do body conversions for the 928 best known are Jaquemond and Strosek, although they are questionable in my opinion. I think the stock car is just about perfect in appearance. There are also several supercharger conversions available, 5-600bhp is no problem. Steve
hahaha, another Seinfeld addict! I haven't seen the Carfax, but he MAY have owned it since new, sometimes if you lease a car, or finance it and pay off the loan, or if he bought it in the band/company name and then transferred it, it would show up as a new owner on Carfax.
Apparently there's a KISS themed mini putt here in town that has a 928 that was formerly owned by a band member. I'll have to go and see if it's this black one.
