Never really had huge troubles with my 928 other than the fact that I had a ground loose and a MAF connector frayed causing all sorts of running issues. It took me six months to solve since the wire fray was so deep down on the harness. Other than that, if you have a copy of the factory workshop manual, you can do most of the work yourself if you are confident to.

For those of us who have owned both Porsches and Ferraris, I don't think you could ever, ever, ever confuse the 550 and 928.

Why not have both and use the 928 as a daily, the 550 on the weekends?

If there is a 928 ambassador, PCar928fan is it. He is a legend on the 928 boards on rennlist. :)

I ran my 1979 928 for 10 years with little or no problems. It taught me how to work on cars. By comparison my 360 is a piece of cake! It's a definition of GT drive through and through.. Not as nimble as other cars at low speeds IMHO.

As far as a DD, I'm glad I have a 79 that is relatively simple to work on. With the later S4's and whatnot I wouldn't buy one without a lift at home. They are complex, it seems owners fall into 2 camps, one that does their own work and the other who contracts out to a competent indy. The latter are the ones that seem to post about how expensive the cars are. As far as operating costs costs go the FCar wasn't too big a jump when you're used to the 928. Can't bring myself to sell my 928 for 2 grand though.. every one says I should. :-(
