I wonder if that's why the residuals for the late cars are so much better than for the early ones?

I think the late cars hold value better because they sold so few of them and they were such a performance improvement. The reasons they didn't sell to many was the cost though so that can not be completely discounted. I am actually surprised the GTS's were only $20 CAD more than the 911's! I would have thought they would have cost even more above a 911 than that! As Ispeed noted for $15k - $20k you can get a really nice S4 and be sure to get what you are looking for. They are pretty rare but not so much that you should settle for the first one you find. Sometimes it takes 6+ months to find what you are looking for but it will show up...just be patient! The same is true for most Ferrari's too really...at least the F-cars from the last 25 years or so that applies.

I love that scene.....knocking on the quarter panel, door, etc, bullet proof it here, here, and here........

I've been driving the 928 for a month plus now. I initially had some problems with the battery losing charge and the fuel pump relay not behaving, both problems seem to have sorted themselves with regular use. Strangely the ride seems to have improved also.

But the main reason for this post is that I'm loving driving this car! I will try and explain why...You sit pretty low and feel that there is a lot of car around you, cossetting you might say. Despite that, vision out is excellent in all the important directions. The steering feel is actually slightly better than my GT4 despite the 928 being power assisted, the wheel feels alive in your hands and the car shrinks around you as you go faster. The engine... just when you think the 4.7 litre V8 has done it's business with the low down torque, it then delights with it's top end power. My job is quite stressful, but I drive home in this car and 20 minutes later all is well with the world and I'm smiling as I park it on the drive no matter how bad a day I've had.

EXCELLENT! I have not added a Ferrari to my stable yet, but can TOTALLY relate to the 928 dream. Put 125 miles on my '88 S4 today! SA-WEET! PERFECT weather here in Central Texas for driving!

Nicely put, there are massive redeeming qualities to the least understood Porsche. I loaned mine to an old friend last weekend and he is buying one as soon as we find a good one. Seat time is proof.

Had to have a feeling of let down when you handed it over to the mechanic and worried that you'd never get it back. Must be great to be back in the saddle and running better than ever.

    Congrats.

    Beautiful BTW.
