Touch choice, each has it +/- Which would you buy in addition to your current F car?
personally, i would choose the carrera gt. the raw power, and understated raw styling just makes the car fit with me.
I would take the CGT, it looks better than the SLR. And about the sport versions (Gemballa Mirage GT vs. SLR 722), Gemballa's version is awesome ... http://zeropoint.freeblog.hu/archives/2007/05/09/Porsche_Carrera_GT_vs_Mercedes_SLR_vs_Maserati_MC_12/
+1 I've been around my friend's SLR a bunch and I really don't care for it much. I would choose a CGT in a heartbeat!
Here is some controversy for everyone. IMHO the SLR is a typical MBZ POS and not worthy of discussing in the same breath as the Carerra GT. MBZ really is prooving that pigs can fly. Nice cars for supermarket runs but performance?? NO!
+1... Not even close. V10 regular transmission - unbelieveable sound/handling. If I were looking for a DD like the SLR I would get an SL65 and save $200K to spend on something more intresting like a GT3RS
This is black or white, salt or sugar, coffee or juice. They are so different as to be beyond possibility of comparing. What do you want in a car? An all out supercar capable of running on a track at 10 tenths all day or a boulevard cruiser that looks real good but is strangely jittery at speed -(this is not only my experience but it was commented on in several of the early comparison road tests where the SLR was pitted against other supercars). They both have huge exclusivity cachet but the CGT is the racer and the SLR is the cruiser. I have a CGT and I passed on an SLR. The upcoming SLR convertible will be a bettter proposition because if you are going to cruise the boulevards it will be way more pleasant topless. That's a car I will get when it is released. For a little more money get a 599 - it's really the whole deal in one package.
Neither. I'd do an F40. If I had to choose between those two, I guess the Porsche would have better resale, and the SLR is uglier (nose is awful).
These cars are driven by very few people and I'm not one of them, if my opinion as a enthusiast matters at all this is my point of view; Carrera GT. I just believe it's a car you can spend a lot of time exploring the limits off. "No nonsense, just business".
CGT for me. Nothing I've ever driven before comes close. I wouldn't even consider the Merc convertible since I suspect we will soon see a topless 599.
It really would depend on what I was looking for. If I had a pretty looking garage already I would go for the CGT without hesitating. If I had just come into enough money to trade up for a better daily driver than I have now and I had the choice of an SLR and CGT I would go with the SLR. I like the CGT better every way I can think of but from all sources I know of, it's a ***** to drive anywhere but the track or open highway.
I'm a MB guy but not big on the SLR. If I had to pick I guess the GT, but I'd want to pick something else.
if i wanted to crazy track car, that could go around a corner .2 seconds faster than i would go carrera gt. I love the look, sound, and feel of the Porsche, But for all around do it all super car... you can't go wrong with the SLR.
Although the SLR's engine sound used to be my favourite it gave up that spot for... the CGT And that was the only advantage it would have had so I guess the answer's simple
