Thinking of buying a brand new Cranberry Red Cayenne GTS with black interior and red stitching. Sports crono Alcantera. Panorama roof. carbon lighted doooe sills pretty much loaded. I think it would be a terrific daily driver. Any thoughts? Jon in Delaware

I don't see the value in the current GTS over the S. You get 20 HP, the Sport Design kit and Alcantara, for $17k more. I'd rather stretch for a less-optioned Turbo (if I could find one) or a higher-optioned S.
I would consider a 957 GTS however, because they had a manual transmission option.

If you're getting a great deal on it though, it sounds like a nice one.

Great feedback. Hadnt even considered the two as so similar. I do like the turbo look of the new Cayenne GTS. Please any more feedback? Depreciation on these things is HUGE!!!

My parents bought an ex-Porsche Rep Cayenne S with 10k miles on it, so got a very good deal. It was in such good condition that it practically felt new.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem with the battery and the central locking on these things. If you leave the car unlocked in your garage, the car will drain the battery for some reason and leave you stranded. Always locking the car, even if your own garage, seems to avoid the problem - though it is a minor irritation for my folks as it's something they didn't always used to do. Technically, it seems to have something to do with solenoids, but I don't think Porsche have figured it out yet. Apart from that, great car.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I have a Cayenne Diesel which I really enjoy.

Test drove the S before ordering the diesel, engine is the S doesn't really wake-up
till around 3500 RPM as opposed to the diesel which has lots of low-end grunt.

If 0-60 & top speed are really important to you get a Turbo. Otherwise give a
diesel a test drive, make sure you use the Sport Mode at some time during
the drive, it really wakes up the engine.

I really like the diesel Cayenne, I wish it had been out when I bought my Jeep (although I still think I couldn't justify the price difference)

might want to skip the air suspension unless you know 100% it's covered by CPO. each air bag is $3-4 grand.

I'm on my second Cayenne. I think it is a great daily driver if you don't often have to park in tight spaces i.e. city parking, if you haul people and cargo, or if you also use it for towing or off-roading. I agree with comments on GTS: an S and a Turbo are better values.

Re: air suspension, it does improved the car's damping characteristics but steel springs are acceptable for my use. My first S had it along with other options. I didn't keep the car beyond warranty due to potential repair costs (and based on what I had repaired during its warranty period). My second Cayenne has steel springs and less electronic hoopla; I like it just fine as it has been very reliable.

Re: diesel, my next daily Cayenne (if/when) would be a basic diesel with tow hitch as the only must-have option.

They are expensive, but I have never seen an air bag fail on a Cayenne. I'm sure it's happened, but I haven't seen it. I have seen compressor leaks and pressure holding valve leaks, though those are pretty inexpensive to fix (under $100). And in one instance, I've seen a level control module fail, but never an air bag.

Three time cayenne owner, one new and two cpo. I'd consider the air suspension a must have. Never seen a problem with one, or an airbag. Never had any problem of any sort turned down under CPO either. Worth checking to be sure bit I'd be shocked if the suspension werent covered.

I just don't get the small SUV thing. Its one thing if you need to seat 6,7 or 8 people and buy a GL or Suburban or Q56, ect.... But, small SUVs such as the Cayenne only seat 5. So, why not just buy a 5 seat, 4 door sedan with a real enclosed truck, rather than a small SUV which is basically a 5 seat hatchback. My daughter now wants to get rid of her small SUV she bought against my recommendation; after she realized that she could smell the equestrian tack supplies she kept in the back in the hot Texas sun as well as that thieves could see it through the back side windows. She now wants a 4 door sedan with an enclosed truck to shield the odor as well as the view of such expensive tack. Daddy was right again.

There is a difference between SUV and UV - Cayenne's are truly SPORTS UV's :) with a towing capability far better than sedan's ..... plus great labrador carriers - I don't think my Ben would like the boot (sorry trunk) .....

i transport my two wheaton terriers in the back of my cayenne.
    several times a week.
when put into the rear of a "real car", their claws tend to scratch up the leather.

So people actually buy an expensive vehicle based on how well it is equipped to carry a dog?

Yep. That's why I got a Turbo S...so my dog could fly :)

I've owned a few suburbans and pickups but my Cayenne is the nicest dog hauler I've ever had and pretty good hauling people too. It also drinks a quart of oil every 1000 miles and gets 10 miles to the gallon. But when you stomp on it...whoa Nelly!

Hopefully, the GTS won't have the oil consumption of the TTS and deliver better mileage. The alcantera is a cool and the suspension feels sporty.

I dissed them when they came out but they grew on me to the point where a Cayenne is now my daily driver. Sadly, my dog has passed so I may downsize to a Panamera. (I've almost convinced myself they are okay too.)

Good luck...the diesel is an interesting option too.

We are on our third Cayenne S, which we use to transport the Doberman Pinschers, and ourselves. It was fun to take the two 500 size crates to the dealer to make certain they fit. The dogs seem happy, they certainly wouldnt want to ride in that Range Rover thingy, even though it has a "doggy" name.
    Seriously, these are terrific drivers.

I took my dog crates to the dealer today to see if they would fit in the back of 2014 Cayenne Turbo (with the rear seats folded down) and they did not fit! I currently drive Cayenne 2008, and the crates (wire) fit great because the rear seats fold down flat. What crates do you use for your Dobermans? I have a Labrador Retriever and a Dachshund, and they much prefer Porsche to Range Rover...
