I swapped mine for a 56 Chev hardtop in 1980 on the spur of the moment. The chev turned out to be a piece of crap but still got $6500 for it from another sucker taken in by the looks.
The 911 E advertised above was originally delivered as a Sportomatic and leather upholstery, now both missing. I'm still trying to fathom the asking price. So if originally delivered as a 5 speed, what does that "add" ?
The true value of that car is 100k, why would anyone want one say over a 997 series 11 . or a 964 or a Carrera 3.0 or 3.2 or a SC. with 100,000s still in the pocket . Perhaps what we all should do ,is advertise our cars for huge money ,just to f....the market .
Having owned when new the best road-going air-cooled 911 of all time, I'd say I'm in a position to make the correct comment. Rather than them some off-the-cuff romantic foolish comment ...Just saying.
With a bunch of you blokes bangin' on about 6 cylinder VW's I thought I'd go and have a look. This thing took my eye straight away as it's veeeeery similar colour to my '71 T: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1998-porsche-911-carrera-996-manual/SSE-AD-13960428/?Cr=12
And that is exactly how to mod a modern 911 - duck tail - Fuchs style wheels - pepita cloth inserts 10/10
Get the bores inspected for scoring and spend about $4k sorting the IMS bearing issue and it won’t be going bang any time soon
