Do any porsche owners have recommendations to any dealerships in chicago area or people to work with that are trustworthy? Nd
Napleton Porsche in Westmont; been working with them for years, they're awesome. Talk to Ron Barnaba (GM), Bob Donnan (Sales Mgr), or Geno (sales). Service department is great as well, talk to Kerry or Mark.
Go to Chicago Motor Cars and see Micheal Simon....Very knowledgeable about Porsche product and trustworthy. PM me if you would like his #.....
Bought a Porsche sight unseen from Isringhausen Imports in Springfield, Illinois. Probably my most pleasant car purchase to date. Dealt with Nick Drum. I know they are not in Chicago, but I didn't have to leave town to complete the purchase. IMHO Joe
I bought from Tripp @ Loeber back in December. I was 98% satisfied. The skinny on the other 2% -> The car I bought was in the back corner of the storage area (between the showroom and service). There was fresh snow on the ground so I did not care to go for a test drive or even have them move the cars blocking it in. I've owned several almost identical cars (but a few model yrs older) so for the most part I knew what I was getting. However, Tripp and I had extended discussions about I-Pod controls, and he assured me that starting w/ 2010 the stock system would have full control over I-Pod via a port in the center arm-rest. I specifically asked if it would show song name, charge and be able to switch songs & playlists from head unit, he said "of course". He said I would need a special cable that Porsche no longer included for free w/ car. I made him throw in the cable, but I never climbed in the car to see the port. When they dropped car off the car, I had the special cable, but as it turns out the only port is a standard aux input. So I get sound, but all controls must be done on the I-Pod. I am in part to blame because I didn't actually get in the car before I bought it. Since I was getting a screaming deal on a 2010 they did not offer any remidiation for this slight mis-representation.
For every good there is a bad. I have dealt with Isringhausen and never will again. Long story short I reached an agreement to purchase a car at X price and they agreed to certify it at that price. All was confirmed in writing. When they discovered that the certification would cost more than they anticipated (due to their misrepresentation of the mechanical condition of the car to me) they attempted to adjust the price significantly upward and refused to honor the agreement. Who needs these kinds of headaches?
I do my service at Loeber and never had any issues, all the staff are always very nice to me. I have also heard good things about Napleton in Westmont.
I did see Geno on saturday, nice guy. Walked me through a few cars. have to see where i go with my current car first. I have to say, I really liked the new caymans. great interior, tight, fit well.
I thought we did too. A few days later, I got an email from someone looking to buy my car. they know the car and i suspect brokering for another buyer. Guess Ill see where this goes. needs to be a great deal though as Im not in a position where I have to sell.
The Cayman S is a great car to drive. Really well balanced, great steering feel, comfortable. The reviews of the new Cayman R have been good as well, but I haven't had the opportunity to drive one yet. Good luck with your decision!
I've always loved the Caymans, the R is spectacular. I just wish they had more power and it would kill the 911 imho (which is exactly why they don't I know..)
