Yes we've all followed those statements but contend your conclusion isn't correct or excludes other explanations. Porsche's strategic ownership of Audi/VW group is effectively controlling. Porsche has always insisted on a commercial validity to its companies' racing programs. If you want a conspiratorial motive I suggest you look there. It would be closer to the truth.
Yes, if any prefers no competition its Porsche rather than Audi. Audi pulling out was a real shock to Champion. I hear SM wants to race, has funds and is looking to put things together so they do race ALMS this season.
You may be right, time will tell, we all have our opinions. The past to seasons with competitive LMP2 cars in the hunt made it fun to watch.
Yes we've had great racing and hopefully will have more in coming seasons. As much as its wonderfull to have manufacturers battling with prototypes and big budgets I still enjoy the small teams racing the most. GT-2 should give us good sportscar racing this season what ever happens.
I don't agree with you there on Porsche doesn't like competition, they have always been screwed because of rule changes. Audi didn't have competition like Porsche over the years. That little LMP2 nibbling at Audi's tail. Love it!! Don't get me wrong I like Audi and it was great to have them involved but 07 with two class near equal was fun, Audi made a mistake making their car LeMans track spec. with the long wheel base it hurt them every where else. Weight too. I agree with you that it's would great to bring things down to more affordable level. GT2 is great and I love them, but I do like the David and Goliath thing also. That's why I'm such a big Porsche Fan (can't ya Tell) a little company with big b**** taking it to them. It was such a gas to watch that little LMP2 Porsche fly at Detroit and Mid Ohio in 07.
